The long awaited revival of the Dyad Jr. dual-bladed folder is here as a Spyderco Sprint Run. Spyderco Sprint Runs often re-release a previously discontinued knife model for only a short time and in a limited number. The original Dyad Jr. was released in 1999, discontinued shortly afterward with knife enthusiasts calling for its return ever since.
Dyad Jr. offers the best of both worlds with two VG-10 stainless blades both slightly longer than two-inches, each opening via a Spyderco Round Hole. There is a hollow ground SpyderEdge Sheepfoot blade, and a flat ground PlainEdge clip-point blade. Serrated from the tip to the tang, the Sheepfoot blade is for hard cutting and the separation of fibrous and coarse materials. The straight edge clip-point blade makes short work of intricate and precise cutting. Both blades combined provide over four-inches of cutting power efficiently packaged in a folder slightly longer than three-inches. A by-pass lock design locks each blade open independently and releases it to close when the lock-bar that lines up with the blade is depressed. A blue/gray FRN (fiberglass reinforced nylon) handle houses both blades inside a lightweight ergonomic shell that is easy to carry in a pocket and comes without a clip.
