The first defining feature of this knife is its blade, which is crafted from Crucible® Industries' CPM® 20CV. CPM 20CV is an advanced powder metallurgy stainless steel that contains a high volume of vanadium carbides and the highest amount of chromium of any vanadium-rich stainless steel currently available. This advanced alloy mix gives it a remarkable balance of high wear resistance, superior corrosion resistance, and good impact toughness. These properties are further enhanced by the powder metallurgy process, which ensures a very fine grain size and uniform distribution of the alloys throughout the steel. To take full advantage of these properties, this knife's PlainEdge™ blade is full-flat ground for exceptional edge geometry features a handsome, low-friction satin finish. 

Equally unique, the handle of this Exclusive Dragonfly 2 combines red fiberglass-reinforced nylon (FRN) with a black Zome treatment. The knife's lightweight handle is first injection molded in a base red color. It is then hand dyed using a painstaking process called Zome (pronounced "zoh-may"). Inspired by traditional Japanese art forms used to dye textiles, expert artisans hand brush a black dye onto each handle to create distinctive, one-of-a-kind patterns. This labor-intensive technique is reminiscent of classical hiki-zome (brush dyeing) and makes every one of these knives an individual work of art. To complement its blade, the lock bar, pocket clip, and all other handle hardware of this knife also sport matching satin finishes.
