Based on a knife designed by acclaimed custom knifemaker Kevin Smock, the Smock is a utilitarian folding knife that incorporates a clever variation of Spyderco's patented Compression Lock® mechanism. Unlike most versions of this lock, which are released by applying lateral pressure directly to the knife's stainless steel liner, the Smock has a button built into the obverse (front) side scale. Pushing the button releases the lock and makes one-handed operation of the knife even simpler and easier.

This Exclusive version of the Smock proudly includes all the defining features of this design, but elevates them with an elite blade steel and red G-10 handle scales. The hollow-ground, satin-finished blade is precision machined from M390 particle metallurgy stainless steel. Manufactured by Böhler-Uddeholm, this high-performance alloy offers very high wear and corrosion resistance, yet remains extremely easy to sharpen and maintain. It also performs well with both coarse and highly polished edges.

The other defining characteristic of this knife is its handle, which features vibrant red peel-ply-textured G-10 scales that accentuate the knife's sleek design and ensure a secure, non-slip grip. A polished stainless steel clip stands in contrast to the scales, keeping the knife poised for instant access with a choice of left or right-side tip-up carry.
