Tough call, but I probably prefer the Mantra 1 over the 2 simply because I like opening holes on my blades. The slim blade profile IS pretty sweet on the 2, though. I'd like to hold both in-hand before making the final call...

No. Spyderco has used CPM-M4 in Bradley Air and Gayle Bradley folder. Also, the upcoming Gayle Bradley 2, BladeHQ's exclusive ParaMilitary2 and KnifeWork's exclusive ParaMilitary2 use CPM-M4.

These 2 are my favorite designs in this year's catalog. Could the Mantra kick the Domino out of my pocket? I can't wait to find out!
Bacon. Sometimes beer, but mostly bacon. I like Spydercos.

Oh, I never had a question about it! :p ;)

...so then, now it makes me wonder what that proto GB Flipper, and the Manix Flipper looked like...? And also those value line flippers that were discussed back around Amsterdam time. Sorry to side track, but these Mantra just got my mind all stirred up over old talk.

I thought the Manix flipper was actually a Manix xl flipper.

I like the 2!

What's up with M4? Compares to...? Hope it's not like D2...

Nothing like D2 really. Edge retention in the s90v range but easier to sharpen to high level sharpness. MUCH tougher too. Great steel with an outstanding set of properties other than not being stainless.

Am I the only one who is disappointed????

By the description that leak after Amsterdam. Mantra supposed to be a Manix flipper with M4. This doesn't look like Eric design at all. No finger grooves, no choil. It's an old Delica shape with flipper and high end materials:( And Mantra 2, with that extra slim blade looks absolutely horrible. YMMV.

That Gayle Bradley flipper looks absolutely fantastic. This should go to production ASAP.

I don't know if it's a fear of tip breakage, but designing a drop in the blade right before the tip ruins the aesthetic, IMO. Spyderco needs to stop doing that. :) I think the blade should just have a more gradual drop.
