I would go take a look at the "Police 3." It's a little longer than your CRKT, but it's lighter (and probably thinner). It's built solid, and it carries really well in a pocket for it's size. Also, the G10 feels good in hand. In any case, I think your best bet is to go to a Spyderco dealer...

Thanks for the input Sal! I'm glad to hear it's in the works. Like some of the others, I'd also like to see a lock other that the ball lock. For this type of knife I'd like to see a stout compression lock, and if not, a sturdy back lock with a strong detent.

I'd be in. There was talk about this a while back. Maybe Sal has an update? :)

I'd really like to see it with a beefy compression lock. I'd pick up at least a couple.

I like to keep mine dry so that it doesn't attract dirt. When I do need to lube, I just use a little bit of Militec and work it in. After I work it in, I wipe off as much of the excess as I can. It works for me.

Yojimbo 2: Still Your Choice?

Now that the excitement seems to have died down over the initial introduction of the Yojimbo 2, is it still your choice for carry and use? It is for me. I know it's designed for self-defense, but I use it like a box cutter for everyday cutting chores. It has a great combination of power and control....

Mr. Janich: Thank you for your reply. I really appreciate it. I now have a clear understanding of how the lock works. I'm really looking forward to owning this knife. It's very cool indeed! Thanks again.

Thanks VashHash. The next time that you do get a chance to talk with Laci, can you please ask him to clarify how the lock works? I anticipate getting this knife soon, and I'm really looking forward to it. It's got so many innovative features that I'm a little surprised that the new features haven't ...

Thanks for the photo phaust. I think I'm a little closer to understanding this. After looking at the photo, I think where I'm getting confused is that in the "traditional" compression lock, the stop pin is actually an integral part of the compression lock system and serves as kind of a &qu...

Thanks for the link MarcusH. I'm still haing a problem visualizing the Szabo's lockup. When I look at the pictures in this thread: http://www.spyderco.com/forums/showthread.php?57658-Szabo-Folder/page2 , I don't see any other pins that could be a potential stop pin other than the pin that goes throu...

Deacon: I'm pretty sure the pin that goes through the lock bar is solid with no threading for screws (from looking at VashHash's photos). MarcusH: Are you saying that the stop pin is not the pin that goes through the lockbar, and that the "actual" stop pin is hidden from view? Now I'm even...

More Info on the Szabo Compression Lock?

It looks like the Szabo MBC folder has a modified version of the compression lock where the stop pin actually goes through the lockbar. Also, there doesn't appear to be any torx screws holding the stop pin in place. It looks to be an awesome knife packed full of new Spyderco engineering. I read Vash...

I'm a lefty, and my favorite currently produced Spydercos are the Police 3 and Yojimbo 2. The locks and clips on these models are lefty-friendly.

Can anyone please tell me what the Torx sizes are for the Police 3 (pivot, lockbar, etc.)? Thanks!
