Green Native 5 Salt LC200N

#1

Post by ed9957 »

I picked up a Native 5 Salt LC200N in green a while ago and finally took it out fishing on our local river. We fish for Chinook Salmon and previous years I had used a variety of Spydercos to clean the fish. Last year I was using the Fish Hunter. I had thought the Native would have difficulty in using it to remove the head in front of the pectoral fins as it takes a bit of effort to sever the spine of a big fish. In use cleaning the fish, it easily handled the task and I have gained new respect for the Native 5 as I tend to carry only Para 2, 3 or Manix's. The bright green makes it easy to find the knife when you put it down on the gravel beach. Very easy to clean and of course, no worries about rusting. The handle is very grippy as one would expect and works well when your hands are slippery with fish slime and blood. I prefer the Native 5 for cleaning big fish as compared to the FH with the longer serrated blade (I understand the FH was designed with the purpose of dispatching large fish).
In my opinion, the Native 5 Salt is a great little knife with great cutting power. It is a good choice to carry when you are fishing! Just waiting for a Para with a Salt blade :winking-tongue

My N5 salt LC200N is my most carried fishing knife for the last couple of years since I realized how well a folder works in this role, and especially the N5.

Superficial and petty of me, but I love that green. I have a LC200N already, but have contemplated getting it in green and transplanting my MagnaCut blade in it. Also have contemplated doing the same with the UKPK when it comes out in MagnaCut. Beautiful pictures guys!

I do like that green colour! Hopefully Spyderco will release a Para 2, 3 and or Manix in that colour.

That green is amazing. It can be seen for a long way and in a lot of clutter.
