What's your preferred EDC blade style?

Before anyone here get their panties in a bunch... This is JUST FOR FUN! I'm just curious as to the prevailing opinion, nothing more. This poll isn't trying to accomplish anything else whatsoever. If it annoys you some reason, then move on to the next post 🙄

What exactly is "model standard"?

EDIT: Maybe this will help...

My favorite is a blade with a low tip and relatively flat edge but a little bit of belly towards the tip.

Not exactly sure what it would be called. It’s along the lines of a wharncliffe but with a bit of belly near the tip. I’ve heard the term “modified wharncliffe” in the past but I’m not a big fan of that terminology.

My preferred is a hawkbill serrated. That list bit of the tip is still a plain edge, hawk bill makes all cutting effortless. Wish there was an hawkbill enduramodel

There was... the SpyderHawk. It was based on the endura 3 handle. It was discontinued long ago and sprinted more recently.

Standard leaf/spear blade for me.
Have a variety of all in poll but probably only one of each with 90% standard blade shape.

I voted standard, but my actual favorite blade profile is a traditional clip point or trailing point. My favorite Spyderco blade is that of the Schempp Bowie.

Hey! You! We're not here to have fun. This is serious business.
We're here to... well... you know... engage in dignified intellectual knife discourse... and things like that.

Personally, I like a "standard" blade with a little bit of belly. I stay away from the tip unless I'm doing precision delicate work and really need the tip. I'm afraid if I used a warncliffe, the tip would be overused and rounded. Sharpening everything back to flat seems like a chore.

I like the Model 14 Randall or a good dagger and shapes like that.

I like wharncliffe, bowie, and the exaggerated leaf shape of the Native Chief.

In most everything I like to have moderate to pronounced belly, but for EDC it's been a wharncliffe since I got my first one about two years ago (I think :thinking ...time goes by so fast)

Before that I had carried the Manbug Salt for a while, which differs from most Spyderco SE knives in that it has a tooth at the very tip and I was so surprised and impressed by how effortlessly that knife would open any type of packaging. That knife was literally my gateway drug and eyeopener SE and hawkbills (as well as clipless carry). Needless to say, that was the MBS's sole party trick and despite excelling at that very common task, it wasn't exactly an all-around performer.

Enter the wharncliffe - the best of both worlds. A compromise indeed, but by switching to a PE wharncliffe I gained so much more than I gave up.

The Insingo. The Native Chief follows its curvature perfectly.
But I value the stronger tip, the swedge, and the HHG on the CRK.

The Spydiechef is also good.

I didn't know how to vote for this, BTW.

manix. that is to say a leaf shaped blade with slight belly and a low tip. this provides great utility and versatility.

that said, i'd love to see a manix blade with a gb2 style grind, if possible. a high hollow grind with a swedge... i haven't use a gb2, but i've used similar style blades and really like that shape/grind too.

I prefer a lower tip for EDC. I think added belly is more versatile, but for most tasks, a lower tip works best or me. Kapara blade shape is amazing. Manix Leaf shape is great. The Endura is also awesome. As much as I love these shapes, it will not hold me back from buying a great design.

Pardon the terrible photo.

I didn't vote on one of your selections because I've used all of them on certain occasions and all with good success I might add.
Right now my two main EDCs are my trusty Spyderco M390, Military model along with my old battered, 1990s era Stainless RESCUE model from the ATS-55 era. I switch from time to time but most often I go back to those two.

That way I have one full PE model and one full SE model handy. And it works great for me most of the time. At first when I started carrying the M390 Military I initially thought it might be too big of a blade for EDC pocket knife uses. But the more I used it the more I fell in love with it. The longer blade comes in extremely handy in many cutting jobs.

Oh the Stainless RESCUE is a "sheepsfoot" blade like all of Spyderco's other RESCUE models. I also like full SE Hawkbills on certain jobs as well. Interesting thread!
