Edited: Adventures of the OKCA show!
I’m contemplating flying out to Oregon for the OKCA show in April and I was wondering if Spyderco will be there this year. I know you guys have always had a presence in the past and just wanted to make sure you guys would be there.
Any forumites contemplating going? If so let’s meet up!

Hi Rich,
Spyderco will be there. Gail and I haven't decided yet if we'll be there.

Well, hope to see you and Gail.
I wanted to deliver that CPM SPY27 knife at 65.0rc to you in person but they kept cancelling the OKCA.
This will be the first show back after 3 years so its quite exciting.

Yes, that’s the OKCA show. I waffled on going this year and of course now I regret it. It’s now a 5 hour drive for me each way so not quite as easy as my previous times going heading down from Portland. Hoping to hear some juicy tidbits from Rich! Cheers, Radioactive

Day 1: I spent with Ed Schempp and his wife for Chinese food for dinner. I always enjoy Ed’s company, but his wife is one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet.
Day 2: It was spent at the show helping set up the table with Ed and getting everything priced. I also got a chance to walk around and talk to everyone. I saw a lot of things that I liked but my main focus was on getting the chance to see everybody before things got crazy on Saturday.
At night Eric Glesser and his family treated us to dinner at Sushi station with Ed, David Jung, Matt Diskin and their families. It was a blast!
Day 3: Finished pricing and setting up the table and it got very busy. I got a chance to spend some time with my friend Craig Morgan. He is making some beautiful knives these days so of course I had to get one! Ed gifted me a beautiful custom filet knife for helping him. I also bought a axe off of him that he made in 2012. David Jung gifted me a 2006 sales plaque from a friend of his to add to my memorabilia collection. I also got a chance to hang out with Toad from the forum along with a few other forum folks! At night I went to eat with Shawn Houston, Jeff Loffer, Gary Fadden and a few other people. Jeff is an old friend that I always enjoy seeing but this is the first time I’ve really got a chance to hang out with Shawn. He is one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet.
All in all I’d say it’s by far the best show I’ve ever been to. Not so much for the knives, but more for the people at the show. As much as I love knives, the shows are more to me for getting the chance to hang out and talk to people that I rarely get to see as well as making new friends.

Sounds like it was an amazing weekend Rich! Now I’m really regretting not going. Love the pictures, including how you wrapped your lanyard cord around your Spyderco spidertag. How about the Spyderco table? Any exciting tidbits you can share from what you saw? Cheers, Paul

I am late to this thread.
But It was a pleasure to meet Erick and his son and to see the OKCA show for the first time.
Deadboxhero, I accidently bumped into you and I apologize for not saying hello.. you were one of the YouTubers who inspired me to get into the hobby of collecting.
I really enjoyed myself and spent a few bucks in the process. There were too many fantastic people to meet and I even learned a thing or two. Will be joining OKCA and will try to be at next years show!
