Hey Sal - any news on the Maxamet Military?
Hey Sal - any news on the Maxamet Military?
Just what the title states. Is the Maxamet Military still in the works (or even a Maxamet Military 2)? Then, I'd also suppose I'd like to ask why or why not and how long or whether it will ever happen, but I don't want this to sound like I'm demanding anything of you either.

Maybe they went another direction like 15V?

CPM 15V, Maxamet, and Rex121
Rex 121 is the most difficult steel I've ever ground.
The Maxamet is prone to warping.
15v is not as difficult to grind as Rex 121 and not as prone to warping like Maxamet

If they do make one in 15V, I will always call it the "BBB Insurgency".

I wouldn't be surprised if runs like this are on hold indefinitely in favor of new models like the Military 2.
(please for the love of all that is holy don't make this another Military 1 vs 2 debate, just using the Military 2 as a new model production example).

I would be fine with a Military 2 in Maxamet. I just want a 4" folder with some of that sweet Maxamet action. I'd take 15V or Rex121 too, but I really like Maxamet.

If you'd ever been to a Seconds Sale and seen how many Maxamet QC fails there are, you'd be wondering why they're still trying to work with the stuff.
Re: Hey Sal - any news on the Maxamet Military?
I wonder if this is one reason why they started playing with Z-max and other nearly Maxamet-class steels.yablanowitz wrote: ↑Sat Sep 24, 2022 7:47 amIf you'd ever been to a Seconds Sale and seen how many Maxamet QC fails there are, you'd be wondering why they're still trying to work with the stuff.

I hope we see more of Z-max. I like it better than maxamet. But I haven't heard anything in this direction so I kind of doubt we'll ever see anything in Z-max.
Re: Hey Sal - any news on the Maxamet Military?
I have enough Militaries Looking Forward to buying a Military 2 in just about any steel including Maxamet.
Those who are wise sharpen their steel to it's chemistry not their beliefs. "BeggarSo"
Re: Hey Sal - any news on the Maxamet Military?
The Military is a very nice, very simple knife. It gets even better in the Ti framelock version. Not sure if all the Military haters are going to start buying Military2's just for a different lock. If Maxamet warps that much, it would be prudent to hold off on a Maxamet Military.

Re: Hey Sal - any news on the Maxamet Military?
Maxamet would be okay on the Military but I would rather a tougher steel like 10V. For a bigger knife I would not want a chippy steel like Maxamet. After all the bigger the knife the harder you are on it.

A future Maxamet Military will likely be an *expensive* knife...
A Maxamet PM2 is 45% more expensive than the standard PM2. If you take that same ratio, you are looking at $317 street price for a Maxamet Military...

And that is only of the warping issue doesn´t get worse with the longer blade and force them to QC a larger proportion of the Militaries out than the PM2.Brock O Lee wrote: ↑Sat Sep 24, 2022 11:31 pmA future Maxamet Military will likely be an *expensive* knife...

Re: Hey Sal - any news on the Maxamet Military?
I like to have at least two different Spydie models in steels that have my attention. So, yeah, a Maxamet Military Model appeals to me so long as its blade is as unwarped as my PM2’s.

I'm just gonna bump this fella again in hopes of gaining any amount of insight into a Maxamet Millie.
