Stretch rhinoplasty

#1

Post by Evil D »

Feels a bit like sacrilege especially after I just posted that I already miss the hump after seeing the straight spine version so much, but I've wanted to do this mod ever since I first saw a Stretch so it was a long time coming. I really like it a lot, it has a sort of "old Spyderco design" feel to it and reminds me of a Worker a little bit.

It's a J.D. Stretch. :p

Just realized it's really similar to the Dyad PE blade.

Very nicely done IMO, I like that a lot.

It's "crazy" how the shape of the spine of the blade affects how we see the blade. I've seen the "drop point" of the initial Stretch, the Straight Spine Stretch, and now your kind of "upswept" spine Stretch. The edge shape hasn't changed on any of them, and ought to cut/function the same...

Very nice, David! :)

I still prefer the original drop point shape, but perhaps I'll give one of my Stretch 1s a similar look - ?
/ Pretty (too...) agressive serrations though, right?
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

They're super tall after reprofiling them which shows how low the original angle was. They cut better than they did but they're still a little aggressive. This was my original SE first love, it was the first SE/FFG I took notice of.

Very nice work David. Image I've loved that look since I first saw Gary Graley's PE version of it years ago.

That’s really nice! I’m now considering doing that to my Stretch Super Blue… might make me carry it more!

This is very cool, job well done!

One of these older SE Stretches might be at the top of my want list…I’m just not willing to spend enough time online to either fish around ebay or join Reddit and the spyderco swap!

That looks awesome!

Might have to do it to the Drop Point UKPK in S30V when it comes out.

I daresay it looks much, much better than the SS Stretch! Brilliant modification D! There's a lot of old school vibes coming out from that project. Somehow, it reminds me of a chubby and compressed Catcherman.

Well done.

Great looking modification!
I sort of thought you put a swedge on the humped part in the first image, which I actually think is pretty cool, but I like this just as much.

If I were brave enough I might put a Worker style swedge/false edge on the spine but I don't wanna screw it up.
