Scratched DlC & Ferric Chloride Acid Wash
I have a Military partly serrated where I slipped with a stone while re-profiling the serrations, it left a scratch marring an other wise handsome DLC Blade I am considering Dipping it in Ferric Chloride to acid etch the scratches and make it less noticeable. Has anyone ever tried this with DLC? anything to be concerned over?

I wonder if there's a possibility that you'd see corrosion issues under the coating?

I bet you could probably hide the scratch better with something like Birchwood Casey gun blue.

There really is only one option... you need a new Military

Character, just leave it.
PS, there is more to come if you use it
If you want to cover it. A small tin of black model paint will be better than anything acid

Scratches are character, don't worry. A knife without scratches just means you haven't used it enough yet.
So many knives, so few pockets... :)

Totally agree.
If you showed me an EDC DLC knife looking pristine, unmarked, I’d seriously wonder.

Thanks guys, sorry forgot to mention it is a knife I intend to sell figured paint would just look sloppy. Also very curious to see what would happen. Oh and I used the wrong word was getting the DLC off the serrations and sharpening them not reprofiling when I slipped. Not a deep scratch but those little dental stones Spyderco cut DLC swiftly.

Stick it up as is, most users probably don't care (well I don't).Doeswhateveraspidercan wrote: ↑Sat Jan 12, 2019 9:47 amThanks guys, sorry forgot to mention it is a knife I intend to sell figured paint would just look sloppy.
