Howzabout a larger-holed version of this?

^^ that’s what I was hurrying through the comments to post! I think the solution already exists, and frankly I think the lanyard tube’s location is perfect for using a lanyard.

Not a bad idea but that would require a new clip, larger screw hole pattern, etc. If they used the same size lanyard tube the end of the clip would be pretty big. Not sure how well that would all work out. I'm all for it if Spyderco's willing to do a major redesign and they can make it look decent. Otherwise, I'm perfectly happy with the knife as is.

I would still end up changing the clip to a short Lynch because I don't like holding the clip when working the compression lock and I think the shorter clip makes the knife feel better when using it.

Just got mine in. This is my first Para 3, so it’s cool to try a new model and a new steel at the same time. It’s perfectly centered and free swinging. It’s a little tank.

I’ve been full on Native 5 mode for a while so I was comparing these 2 first. It’s funny, the Native is slightly smaller overall but gives you just a little more room on the grip, as well as a slightly larger choil.

The Para 3 came exceptionally sharp! This may be the sharpest factory edge I’ve received to date. It was so sharp I grabbed my wife’s hair for a test piece. She slapped me, so I got one from a hair brush. It wouldn’t grab a free hanging hair but I did whittle one pulled tight.

Well done Golden crew!

^One of the nicest out of box actions and edges of any of my Para3's. Very well put together.

These were in stock earlier today at BladeHQ, and I managed to score one. I am still holding out for a BOGO deal via Spyderco's OpFocus program, but I will settle for the one I am getting from BladeHQ if that doesn't happen.

Interesting thread. A few observations.

Most, if not all, of the calls for repositioning the clip and lanyard hole are from people who will not carry tip down. Everyone else doesn’t see an issue. Those tip up folks should get another clip that satisfies their carry preference rather than push for a redesign that would satisfy them at the expense as of everyone else.

Charging what the market will support isn’t “gouging” it is free market capitalism. You don’t have to pay what someone asks. You can negotiate, buy it elsewhere or not buy it at all. It is a question of value.

I got mine from the SFO on the 13th, so i don't expect them to get more in stock over 2 weeks later.

It, however, may be worth it to call the SFO and inquire.

I find it interesting how obsessed people are with deep carry. Redesigning everything to meet that criteria makes no sense.

While I mostly agree with your free market capitalism statement, what I find troubling is when sprints/exclusives are released in a way that appears to disadvantage people who genuinely want to own it. They are then forced to the secondary market if they want it bad enough. I don't have a suggestion for a solution.

Right. I just called the SFO, and the nice lady who answered the phone told me that they're gone. I am glad that I was able to snag that one from BladeHQ.
