Spyderco Autonomy - release date?
I fell in love after picking up the black Embassy in had spyder-edge serrated, that I had to pick up the black plain edge (with the complementary bonus of having a much stronger action) a mere 1.5 months later. Alternating, they have turned into my 80% of the time EDC tool. After taking in love with the Spyderco made in Golden automatics, I would love to get my hands on the Autonomy. Is it still on the horizon, and do you have a good feel of the street price? I picked up my Embassies at approx. $180 a piece. While I expect it to cost more, I'm hopeful for only $30-$90 more. Less than $300 out the door.
Thanks in advance for letting me know what you guys know. I tried to search, but didn't find anything firm or recent on the Autonomy.

MSRP is still listed as "TBD" in the 2013 price list that accompanied my Forum Native, so what follows is just a guess. Average MSRP for the Embassy and Citadel was around $310 back in 2009 while the base model Military's was $220. Said Military is now $250, and most other Golden models show a similar increase. Based on that, I'd expect a similar 15% or up-tick over for the Autonomy over the Embassy and Citadel, plus another $50 to $70 for the added cost of importing the steel. That would put it in the roughly $400 MSRP range, and translate to street prices in the mid to high 200's. As I said, just a guess, only time will tell if I'm even close. As for release date, I haven't a clue, but I suspect the Autonomy may have fallen victim to the popularity of several other Golden models.
Beyond that, although I can't figure out why, since I'm not big on serrations, coated blades, peel ply G-10, or handed knives, I want one. :o
As for the other, unlike my former state of residence, autos are legal to own and legal to carry here. I take advantage of that on a pretty regular basis. :D

There are two versions. The Coasat Guard version has a orange handle, no safety and no clip.
The "regular" version will have a black handle with a safety and clip.
Plain edge version is not available at this time.
They should be shipping in the next few weeks to our dealers that carry autos.

Don't thank me so soon. Apparently Sal was wrong, seemly like "fall" for the black (non-Coast Guard) version. Check that link to the thread on BF.Pinetreebbs wrote:Thanks Paul!

No problem at all, it's just the way things are, besides, Sal is just the big boss. This is the last post from Krisiti:The Deacon wrote:Don't thank me so soon. Apparently Sal was wrong, seemly like "fall" for the black (non-Coast Guard) version. Check that link to the thread on BF.
We are currently building the orange Autonomy for the USCG and will be meeting with them soon to finalize details of delivery. Once we successfully meet the needs of the USCG we will determine if and how we would potentially release the orange Autonomy to Dealers/Distributors who service the military.
The current ETA for the all black Autonomy is this fall.
