Forgive me, but I don't get it. Is it because the knife is restricted?

I don't think you're allowed to sell switchblades or butterfly knives of any type or brand on eBay.
Im not good at sharpening, even with a sharpmaker. How get your blade good can your blade with an edge pro system? - Bladeforums user

My apologies for whoever moved the thread...I was like sleep deprived when I posted :o

eBay doesn't allow selling of auto and butterflys which are now classified as switchblades. Its probably more likely a problem of the seller verifying the buyer's ability to legally own an auto which is the real issue; I suppose the cheap imports would be a violation of the federal law and eBay is covering themselves by doing this.

If you look for a butterfly knife on eBay all you will see is what looks like a butterfly handle but is solid construction with a blade just like a balisong/butter fly; the blade is deployed by means to be considered "assisted". Its close to an-out-the-side auto, only difference is the user has to apply manual force on the tang of the blade to trip the mechanism instead of pushing a button to engage the mechanism. If you ask me, an assisted butterfly knife can be opened faster than any real butterfly knife.

If I had the money I'd be tempted to buy em ;) :D lol

Given the level of hare-brained government decisions Spyderco has already been the victim of, in regard to autos and balis, I would not be at all surprised if, out of an abundance of caution, they'd feel the need to report the listing of a restricted item to eBay if they become aware of it.

The seller is also steeling a BladeHQ picture, look at the background. eBay rules are one thing, but this guy is using a legitimate business as a cover.

I saw a few bi-folds on eBay the other day too. They seem to be gone or taken down now. I was pretty close to buying one.
