Billy, it's definitely worth doing. :D While I understand and respect Ed's reasons for wanting any Sprint Run of the Persian to maintain the hollow grind of the original, Tom's full flat grind treatment takes the Persian's slicing ability up several notches.Billy wrote:Man, I may have to send one of mine to Mr. Krein for a FFG treatment

Yes :D I to have been wanting to get at least one of my Persians done by Tom but haven't got around to doing so as yet. Distance is but one factor for me. It will be done sometime soon I think :p

I believe the Persian's (and surrounding nations) had a sword with an upswept blade called a scimitar. Ed's Persian and mini Persian design is very reminiscent of those designs and the name "Persian" was to honour the heritage of that design.
But enough history lessons... this is a picture thread and forum rules dictates minimal to nil amount of chit chat :D Let's post pics !
Here's one of Master Chief handling a Large Persian - sorry it is a repeat performance of one which I posted in my picture thread, but a Persian nonetheless.
More to come later.... :p

LOL! Daniel, for some reason, this just looks so natural and right! The curve of the blade and the handle fit the figure perfectly. That's one tough lookin' dude! :Dozspyder wrote: Here's one of Master Chief handling a Large Persian - sorry it is a repeat performance of one which I posted in my picture thread, but a Persian nonetheless.

BTW, where is the figure from? Very cool. :)
Good job Roman :) it's a tad messy tho but I can see you tried to carve out the 'Spyderco' logo in the centre of the stump.
And here is another one from a Tricod trio which arrived today :D . In the package was a CF M4 Mule, a beadblasted UKPK, and a wood handled Mini Persian (I don't know what wood it is - must remind myself to ask Brad). I'll have to oil it up a bit and give it a good working over to get some grit out and also to get a nice sheen on the wood :D I like it :p

Very nice Persian Dan! Great job by Brad. If I had to guess, I'd say the wood is Snakewood.ozspyder wrote:And here is another one from a Tricod trio which arrived today :D . Roman,
Very clean cut for the amateur :D
I am so glad to finally see your pictures. Now it's my chance to say WE WANT MORE!
Daniel,
As much as I like wood and Persians, your CF Mule is my favorite among your new toys.
I think the same CF would look really nice if not better on Persian.
Mark.
