STEEL as in the full stainless steel knives with stainless steel handle. That is what first attracted me to Spyderco. What kept me was QUALITY, DESIGIN, FUNCTIONALITY, and the HOLE.

Spyderco makes the best full stainless steel blades hands down. I love the weight of the steel, the looks. Everything about it.

Performance.

Knives are for cutting and when I really have to cut something, I reach for a Spyderco.

I said this before in another thread. Spyderco goes above and beyond to produce knives that are ergonomically designed for the "user." They also pay close attention to ELUs. While some find their designs unappealing everything on a Spyderco knife has a purpose. I also like their business practices and Sal's transparency with customers on what goes into the knife design process.

Wait, was this supposed to be one word?

Porn.

Wait, what was the question?
".........I've been called an "enemy of the planet" for not living within walking distance of where I work and shop - by a guy with six kids! Needless to say he was a bit upset when I suggested he walk home and drown four or five of them."

Performance. I agree with PietS  You can't beat the cutting performance of a Spyderco. Believe me I have tried a lot o customs and productions and Spyderco is unbeatable.

Many good answers but I will add corporate and personal integrity.

Function over form but function has become form for Spyderco.

Spyderco is a multi-generational start up and it shows.

Loyalty to it's principles and customers.

Closely held and not hostage to outside shareholders = the ability to maintain and follow core principle integrity.
Not really all that slick ;)
