Hey all! I'm new to the community and would love some feedback.
I recently have been able to purchase my own spyderco knives (woohoo) and just bought my first PM2 (C81GPBN2, CPM S35VN). I got a really good deal on it (maybe too good?) but it was used pretty well. After basic research, the knife looked good based on details, alignment, sharpness, etc., but the only thing I'm unsure about is the blade profile. The base of it looks as if it were re-profiled. I'm not sure if the previous owner did it intentionally (or if it's even easy to do that), so any thoughts are welcome! I had to clean the internals because the knife as a whole was quite dirty, not sure if those images will help solidify an answer. Thanks again!

Re: Real or Fake PM2?
The knife looks legit to me, but I'm no expert on the PM2. The blade looks like the previous owner ground out a big chip near the ricasso.

Re: Real or Fake PM2?
Welcome!
I don't see any obvious indications of a fake (I am also not an expert) but it definitely looks like it had a sharpening misadventure, they don't come from the factory with a recurve. Yablanowitz is probably right about some fairly serious edge repair in it's past.
For what it's worth, I think the blade looks kinda cool like that. It should have plenty of life left in it, but sharpening it could be more difficult depending on your setup.
Enjoy your new acquisition.

I compared it to mine, looks legit. The blade however has seen some better days. Use it up and enjoy it. I carry my Maxamet PM2 everyday since last years seconds sale. My poor Para3 LW got booted.
