Current “dream collection” of knives
temperance 1, lil temperance 1 serrated leaf, black micarta calypso jr & calypso, cocobolo kopa, stainless serrated harpy, stainless cricket
Re: High Performance Delica Excitement
The machining to make micarta scales that fit the standard FRN Delica family chassis is intricate and precise, which would likely increase the price to the point that many would take a pass on it even as a flash batch or Sprint. Plus it seems that Spyderco is allergic to making easily broken knives, so all current and previous micarta models (excepting the Shaman IIRC) have had flat micarta slabs on full liners, as opposed to nested liners like the Delica 4, which means dragging out the relatively ancient tooling from the G10 Sprint in order to implement that style...
Again, not impossible either way, but I wouldn't lay any big bets on either variant being released any time soon ...and if it is, buckle up for a premium package that might be in the same league with the bone and Ti Sprints for pricing.
Just my take, Sal and Eric are of course free to prove me wrong (at which point, I'll gladly buy one!)

How long ago was the G10 sprint? When I think of a full slab Delica I think the KC Pakkawood sprint. I picked one up last Black Friday. It is my daily carry, so I don’t think of it as being ancient. Fradon Lock did a full slab CF sprint too. I remember seeing that about six or seven years ago.

Re: High Performance Delica Excitement
Right you are! I have consistently ignored the KC exclusive, since I got my HAP40 fix in the form of orange handle Sprints and don't love Pakkawood...
So, if the demand is there, it could happen w/o dragging out dusty tooling. The Sage Green(?) Foliage Green G10 might have been a limited run. or a Sprint, I'm less sure of it being a Sprint the more I think about it, but it's been gone for years, with the only remaining vestige of that series being the D'Fly (which I'm glad to say I have a copy of) https://www.spyderco.com/catalog/detail ... -Green/428.
Honestly though, the extra weight of the full liners (*very* obvious in the normally linerless D'fly) would ruin much of the Delica 4's charm as an everyday user, the FRN (and my aftermarket CF or micarta scales that retain the nested light-weight liners) is light enough to really disappear in my pocket, where my custom Ti scales are weighty enough to make it a much bigger presence in pocket.

Re: High Performance Delica Excitement
Thanks. Since the Fradon and KC exclusives came out after that, it shouldn't be that hard to imagine a micarta Delica. That said, Sal said something about white FRN earlier in this thread. So I doubt we see a micarta on this particular Delica. Perhaps on another model?

It's awesome to see our favorite knife maker offer the variants we crave but honestly, it's often cheaper and much more personalized to get custom scales...

High Performance Delica will do your taxes and find loose change.

I still think that the High Performance Delica is an urban myth!
Re: High Performance Delica Excitement
I don´t think owners of the HP Delica will have to pay taxes anymore. I am sure that knife will find a way to end this.

The Urban is no myth, it's a great D'Fly sized Slipit!
Maybe we should be on the watch for a High Performance Urban instead?

No release as-of-yet. Still somewhere in the pipeline? Perhaps sal can confirm or deny?

We're still waiting for it. The maker is trying to keep up. I've asked for an update. Haven't heard.
