Would you buy a Stretch XL Salt?
Re: Would you buy a Stretch XL Salt?
I would like to see it in H1 Hollow Grind. That may thicken up the point a bit for reinforcement, but not take too much from the cutting perfomance.

Re: Would you buy a Stretch XL Salt?
I do have a Stretch XL "salt" already.. kind of.
This is because as you know VG10 does not rust in my use, no matter what I do.
Still some "secondary" properties of the Salt knives could definitely make me interested in getting a real "salty" XL additionaly to my SE VG10 variant:
- Added toughness of H1, LC and MC over VG10
- Stouter blade and tip of tje H1 sabre hollow
- Bright handle color.
So... YES!

Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

I voted "absolutely".
(Also Vivi I was hoping you'd chime in on the thread I started with your name in the title..)

Re: Would you buy a Stretch XL Salt?
absolutely. it's the only knife that i can see dethroning the pacific salt. especially if it's offered in all black.
i'm a little hesitant though... i want to know how h2 is going to perform. i'd still like the hollow grind and slight sheepsfoot that makes for a more robust tip like we have in the pac salt.
i'm almost certain i'd still get whatever s2xl salt that comes out though.

I would really like it if they keep the point like it is.

Re: Would you buy a Stretch XL Salt?
No. My primary reason for buying Salt models is that they're linerless, so there's nothing to be gained, from my perspective. Also, I don't need additional corrosion resistance and I like the Stretch XL's blade just fine the way it is.

Re: Would you buy a Stretch XL Salt?
Yes, it's a no-brainer for me. Ideally we'd have the S2XL salt and a Pac Salt wharnie as well.

Re: Would you buy a Stretch XL Salt?
Im waiting on the salt. I wanted the combo edge but my salts get carried way more than anything else.

Re: Would you buy a Stretch XL Salt?
Yes, I would. Well, whenever I can justify buying more knives again in the future. The Stretch 2 XL is ready-made to become a Salt, as it already has the linerless platform. I hope Spyderco keeps the exact same blade profile, without “sheepfooting” it, like the Pac Salt did with the Endura. I would like one in Magnacut.

I'm more of a tool steel guy. But if the XL was offered in Magnacut, then I'd be interested.

Re: Would you buy a Stretch XL Salt?
Same here. Despite loving the design of the s2xl, I was waiting for the salt and prolly not buying another VG10 knife of this size when I already have a Pac Salt I love and a VG10 Endura that has seen little use since getting the Pac Salt.VooDooChild wrote: ↑Tue Aug 09, 2022 9:45 amIm waiting on the salt. Re: Would you buy a Stretch XL Salt?
Vivi, I missed the options: yes, 1 to 10, yes 11-50 and yes 51 - 100… But seriously a Stretch XL in salt version would be a welcome addition. Maybe in H2 steel or Magnacut. At the moment i am holding off the VG10 version. Not that VG10 is not a great steel, because it is, but for the diversity of steels to try.

When they come up with rust-proof Maxamet, I'll buy two. Until then, pass.
