Rock Lobster 'mini-skinny' chop
Rock Lobster 'mini-skinny' chop
Confessional: Dear Sal, I committed sacrilege and chopped a Rock Lobster yesterday. Please forgive me!
This was for a customer, but I have to admit I love it and want to do another one for myself if I can find one.
New dimensions:
- OAL 7.25"
- Blade 3.0"
- Handle 4.25"

Hi Digdug,
I'm guessing it was for legal reasons. Nice job.

Thank you Double M!

You are too kind SG, thank you!

I dig it. I really would love to see a Rock Lobster sprint.

Looks great. Have you chopped a SpydieChef?
Re: Rock Lobster 'mini-skinny' chop
I like it!
Do you have a pic of the end so I can see what it looks like where the liners were cut?

Thanks for the kind words everyone, much appreciated!
Here's a pic that kind of shows. I just sent this back to the customer who commissioned it, otherwise I'd take a better one!
Re: Rock Lobster 'mini-skinny' chop
Nice! Thank you it looks better than I expected. Sort of like the area around a compression lock where the jimping is.

Looks almost like a Pingo!
Re: Rock Lobster 'mini-skinny' chop
Really liking this - good thing I can't easily order up a rock lobster
Could you include some pics with the blade closed?
And curious - was the original plan for picture 3, but then you kept shaping and ended up with picture 4? I am trying to understand why you made the cuts you did.

For this one I'd take just about any steel combo. I hadn't considered SE though

Re: Rock Lobster 'mini-skinny' chop
I almost cried when I saw the first two pics.
I’ve been carry a RL for past three months. Found one NIB on another forum. I owned on years back when they first came out. Great design. Carries well, excels in the kitchen and opening packages. Very comfortable in hand, for me. Construction is top notch. My only comment would be that the Seki models tend to be very finicky to reassemble with regards to centering and lock up. Gotta take your time adjusting every screw just right.
That mod came out really well!

Here's a quick vid that shows her closed: https://imgur.com/uQVMbO1.
I already sent her back to the owner (this was a commission chop job), so couldn't take any more pics.
You're exactly right about the chop sequence/thought process! The owner had wanted just a straight up chop, and I talked him into the skinny mod after step 3!
