Delica, Endura, Endela BlackOut Edition
Delica, Endura, Endela BlackOut Edition
Sal,
For years I been hoping for a Covert BlackOut Edition
of the Delica, Endura, Endela They would look fantastic
with a Flat DLC coating on the Blade & Clip. Any chance of making these ? Police , Military, Fire & EMT’s would love this option.
Edited : Should of mentioned i was looking for a
Full Flat Grind DLC coated blade. As of now they
only come in a combo saber blade.
Thanks John

?
Page 7 of the catalog for the endura and page 14 of the catalog for the delica. They have been doing this for a while.

I know they come in Saber Grind but I was
looking for Full Flat Grind Blade’s. I should of
pointed it out in my original post.

You have to LOVE a company when you get an answer
to a knife question within hours from the owner. Makes me
feel good having a Spyderco clipped inside my pocket
every day. You would never see that from Mr. Glock,
Mr. Smith or Mr. Wesson. :)
I’m hoping we get a good response to a blacked out Endura,Delica, Endela with a full flat grind. I love your full
flat grinds on these knives.

John,
Would a Native 5 LW blackout hold you over - https://www.spyderco.com/catalog/detail ... -Blade/931 ? All black DLC and FFG like you're asking for, plus American made with a little better blade steel too.

Re: Delica, Endura, Endela BlackOut Edition
Perhaps a blacked out Emerson opener endela/delica/endura too?
Re: Delica, Endura, Endela BlackOut Edition
I have the blackout, TiCN coated Sabre-Ground combo edge endura, it's my favorite of any endura I have ever had.... The delica is equally impressive . . .
Re: Delica, Endura, Endela BlackOut Edition
That St.Nick Delica is very pretty.....
I could see that some handle colour and black blade could be a very nice match.....Blue and black? Red and black? Dark green and black?
Paired it with some nice steel.....hmm.......and you have a very good recipe for a sprint run.
Of coarse, Endura FFG for me.

In the pocket: Chaparral FRN, Native Chief, Police 4 K390, Pacific Salt SE, Manix 2 G10 REX45

No thanks,, do not like black coated blades.
Normally I purchase 2 or 3 new variations,,, not for this one.

Re: Delica, Endura, Endela BlackOut Edition
Count me in for a blacked out Delica 4 FRN FFG PE VG10.
I think it would be a more popular choice than the current half dozen choices of FRN color. (If one color was to go away to make room for the blacked out version, then which should it be: blue, orange, purple, green, gray, brown???). Does anyone know the order of popularity of these colors; based off sales of course. My least favorites are the green, gray, and brown, but I would probably pick them up if discontinued.

Re: Delica, Endura, Endela BlackOut Edition
If there was a blacked-out Endura 4 FFG PE, I would buy three.
Re: Delica, Endura, Endela BlackOut Edition
Thanks ugaarguy. Yes I was looking at that Nativeugaarguy wrote: ↑Sat Feb 15, 2020 9:32 pmJohn,

5 Blackout in the catalog. Looks like that would hold me over. Lol
Nice Full Flat Grind, Another Plus, it’s Made in the good ole
United States of America.
How does S30V compare to VG10 ?
John
Re: Delica, Endura, Endela BlackOut Edition
S30V is a powder metallurgy steel, rather than a conventional cast ingot like VG-10. So, S30V has a finer grain structure and more uniform distribution of carbides. S30V also has about half again more carbon than VG-10, and large amounts of hard carbide formers like vanadium, molybdenum, and tungsten.JohnNYPD wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2020 12:06 pmThanks ugaarguy. VG-10 is easier to sharpen, and takes polished edges really well. S30V holds an edge longer, but it takes more effort to get to the same level of mirror polished edge, if that's you're thing. I've been very satisfied stopping at 600 grit diamond on S30V to leave a bit of a toothy edge. That's a fast, easy way to get a good, long lasting working edge that will bite into things like para cord with less slipping than a polished edge.
Unless you're cutting mountains of cardboard or sisal rope, you probably won't notice a huge difference, outside of sharpening taking a bit longer with S30V.

Re: Delica, Endura, Endela BlackOut Edition
I would be in for a FFG blackout Delica, multiples probably!
Re: Delica, Endura, Endela BlackOut Edition
Personally, I wouldn't buy a coated one(unless it was PVD Purple).
As for S30V vs VG-10, I'd choose VG-10 100% of the time. To me, it performs way better in the field than S30V.
S30V is nice, but the edge retention isn't enough to overcome VG-10's sharpening response.
I've passed on knives because of S30V. I've never passed on a knife because of VG-10.
If I didn't have LC200N, VG-10 would be my favorote all around steel. (LC200N is the champ in my book)

Re: Delica, Endura, Endela BlackOut Edition
I would like to see blacked out, FFG versions of all 3 models in PE, SE, and Combo edge.
Re: Delica, Endura, Endela BlackOut Edition
You should try a Vanax blade. :DSumdumguy wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2020 8:05 amPersonally, I wouldn't buy a coated one(unless it was PVD Purple).

I've never passed on a knife because the blade is S30V, even though I prefer steels like LC200N (and now Vanax), or M390 and it's US made analogs on the other end of the spectrum. I wouldn't mind a thinner blade stock VG-10 Native 5 LW though.
