Stripped screw tips?
Stripped screw tips?
Just had a new para 2 come in and changing the clip on it. The screws were in SOOO tight I stripped them. Any tips on getting them out?

If you have a dremel you can try cutting a slot for a flathead screwdriver... but chances are you won't be able to generate enough torque to break them free if you haven't already.
Tbh, I'd just send it back to Spyderco and have them fix it, they're pretty good at getting out stripped screws.
For future reference, get a nice set of Wiha drivers. T6, T8, and T10, they're the only tools I feel confident using on any of my knives with threadlocker.

Take small pair of good quality vice grips like the ones on a leather man crunch tool. Get a positive grip and loosen by grabbing the head of the screw try that before slotting.
Or something like this but smaller I would guess

VMPVT-001-5 Mini - 5" Screw Extraction Pliers. I bought these from Amazon and they work great. Got the recommendation from a fellow on Blade Forums. The design of the jaws make it conducive on gripping very small screw heads such as the type found on folders to include Spyderco.

You may be able to get a VERY small easy out and grind the top flat so that the grooves will be sharp at the end and grab the rounded out torx groove of the screw.
Re: Stripped screw tips?
I'd agree with brainfriction, I've had the best luck with using a Dremel and creating a flat head for a screwdriver to screw it out
I came here to cut sh#$ with my knives and chew bubblegum, and I'm all out of bubblegum

Heat, Heat, Heat,
1. Soldering Iron, but be careful not to over heat and burn the G10.
2. Boiling water works best (for me) :
Bring water to boil, shut off fire, drop in.
Set 5 min.*
Place knife on towel push down hard with (GOOD) tool and turn.
*If unsuccessful drop back in hot water, wait longer.
 Next time do this first.

On one of the metal handle byrd knives my screws were stuck and stripped. I cut a groove with a file and used a flathead to take them out.
They were really stuck. Imagine you could do the same with that knife....
