Pacific Salt changes?

#1

Post by HarleyXJGuy »

So you guys have convinced me I need a Pacific Salt in my life.

Then while doing a little research I hear there are some recent changes to the knife.

Something about an Endura handle and something about the clip?

I have heard a lot of good about the Pacific Salt handle and was interested in trying it.

Is this true and can new copies of the old design still be found?

I don't think the new one is out yet. So should be the old design in stock everywhere

Very good.

So the ones I can get out in the wild atm should be the older version?

The last I remember reading from Sal was that the Pacific Salt 2 was still in the development stages. Right now only the smaller Salt 2 has the updated Delica style handle.

Hi HarleyXJGuy,

I carry a Pacific Salt quire a bit on the water. I generally carry the serrated version because of it's "cutting horsepower" and edge retention. The serrated Pacific Salt is the knife that all of the competitors carry in the R2AK (Race to Alaska) starting next month. Sail, row, paddle, no power, 750 miles.

The new handle mold has not been started.

Thanks for the info.

Neat bit of trivia about the race to Alaska how everyone there is using a Pacific Salt.

Just ordered mine. One SE and one PE that I plan to have reprofiled a good bit thinner ala Cliff Stamp.

Cliff knows his knife stuff. Let us know how it performs with the thinner edge.

A lot of people have knowledge but it is a special person who can articulate that knowledge so that others can learn.

I've had good experiences with my PE Pacific Salt being thinned out.

Is the FFG LC200N Pacific Salt still in the works? It'll be my new EDC if so.

I wonder if the LC200N PS will be the current version or the new one that is in the works.

Know for a fact certain US Navy units use them as I was given one as a memento when I worked with one somewhere sometime  ;)

Have a few as it's the best in salt water. Had them on the fishing boat for years and always have a few spare.

I was under the impression they were switching to LC200N for Plain Edge Models and H1 for SpyderEdge models.
