That is a VERY nice Para 3. I really wish I could afford one right now. I absolutely love Spydercos Peel Ply Carbon Fiber. I only have a Military in Peel Ply CF and it rocks!

For those who have their S90V Para 3 -- does the peelply CF look or feel different than the CF/G-10 used on the Sage 5?

mine is what I would call dark grey i don't have a sage 5 to compare it to but it's definitely lighter in color than the black g10 of my lil native but darker than the fluted cf on my native 5

i personally think the weave feels different on the laminated scales vs fully machines CF like the para3

Okay, so I was just going off of my memory of handling my Sage 5 a while back and thought that it was the same as my new Para 3. I just took them both out and did a side by side comparison. It seems that the Sage has a little bit smoother texture. This could be due to the fact that it has seen more pocket time (not sure). To get a true feel comparison, I guess you would have to compare brand new examples side by side.

On both of the Sage 5s I've had and my Sliverax the texture felt really tacky when I first took them out of the box. After handing them a little while they were much smoother. I can only assume this was due to the oil from my skin.

I only want one to do a scale swap with my BBS para 3 that's on the way. That way I can complete my M390 CF collection.

I don’t have a sage 5 but I can tell you the carbon fiber in the para 3 is carbon fiber all the way through. No g10.

Someone correct me if wrong but Peel ply refers to the way how Spyderco gets the texturing on the outside surface of the scales.

Nevermind. Reread the post and noticed the original poster was just asking about the texturing.

Let me explain further -- I have a Sage 5 that I like. And a standard Para 3 that I like, in part because of the wonderfully grippy G-10 scales.

I saw a review on YT that went on and on about how wonderful the CF was on his CF Para 3.

This made me wonder how the CF on the Para 3 compares with the CF on my Sage 5.

I'm trying to decide whether to try to grab a CF Para 3 or a sprint Para 3 with G-10, since I like the feel of the G-10 on my standard Para 3 so much.

It will be one or the other -- sadly, not both.

Thanks.

I only need one Para 3 and chose the s90v cf based on the handle material bc I have never owned a peel ply textured carbon fiber spydie before. I have the native 5 fluted cf and love it and wish it was peel ply after handling the Para 3. I used to have a g10 para 3 and I strongly prefer the peel ply texture that I have now

Personally, it was a simple decision to having my only Para3. The Sprint S90V/CF came to $191.97 versus $185.52 for the BBS M390/Blue G-10. Additionally, I refuse to give any business to BBS.

Heresy! :D lulz jk. You are making me regret not budgeting for one of these. I figured with the cruwear para3 and my FCF S90V Native, I didn't need a S90V CF Para3. Sounds like I might have been mistaken.

I've seen a couple of comments about BBS. As a newbie in the knife world, what is so bad about them?

I don’t have a sage 5, but I do have the new para andthink it’s similar. I don’t think you would be disappointed with the new para. It’s grippy in a unique way. Is it so much better than g10? Don’t know if I would say that. They are very similar.
