Re: Super happy with my New Mantra 2
I ordered one of these as well. I didn't read the specs, so it was a bit smaller than I had imagined, but it's a really nice size for office carry. It has nice flipping action, the stonewash looks good, and I really like CPM-M4. It packs a lot of cutting edge length into a pretty small package.

You can also try abrading it away with a paste of baking soda and water or something like Flitz. Neither will hurt the knife, but avoid getting them in the pivot area.

Re: Is the Bow River sold out?
I've been thinking about picking one of these up. It's unfortunate the sheath is right-handed only, but for the price I can deal with that. I'm looking forward to seeing some reviews on these. $32.50 is cheap for a nice fixed blade.

Re: The Advocate - An Official Statement from Spyderco
I've been enjoying the Advocate I got recently. The discontinued pricing was hard to pass up. I haven't had any trouble with the lock. https://i.imgur.com/yMTpGyX.jpg CPM-M4 is probably my favorite steel, but it will patina for me over time. My GB1 certainly has some patina. I'm expecting the Advoca...

I pass on knives that I can't use as a lefty. S30V and VG-10 are both great.

M4 will patina for sure. My GB1 has quite a bit of patina from using it. Look at the patina near the Spyderhole, for example.

Re: M390 CTS-204P 20CV :) Hype Steel
I am a skeptic of "influencers" myself and in a way sort of detest that they have the pull they have. They are the ones who started the S30V is crap and ZT’s Elmax is bad stuff years ago and “influencers” weren’t even a big thing then. S30V years ago had a bad rap because of issues that o...

Re: Value folders for lefties or ambidextrous
One thing I appreciated most about value folders line was the design, going from the handle shape, to blade being completely usable (no half finger choil - not a fan of this unless the knife is really short, and even then you need usable blade length more than ever). Looking at Ambitious, Persisten...

Re: Chaparral Ti Stealth - Problem with Action
I didn't receive any indication what caused the issue but it seems to have been fixed. The action is still a little more sluggish than new but the blade closes from the backspring as it should, which is what I was hoping for. My Chaparral is usable again, which is great because it's a really nice ca...

Re: Where is my Bow River ?
I'm very excited about this one. An inexpensive Phil Wilson design Spyderco made fixed blade sounds great. I've used Spyderco's 8Cr and it works just fine. Sharpens easily, has decent edge retention. I'm hoping these are available for purchase soon.

Re: This must change: VG10 and H1 to be used outside of Japan. What can Spyderco do?
As some on here have said, and please confirm for me if this is true or not: VG10 and H1 Stainless Steel cannot be used outside of Japan? This is a travesty, this is not right. It is one thing for people to invent something and then license it to others, it is a whole other thing to monopolize it a...

Re: Am i just lucky with my super steels?
There's a huge difference between profiling/reprofiling and sharpening. Profiling/reprofiling is the step when a bunch of metal has to be removed. Sharpening is merely refining the apex. Sharpening doesn't take long. Profiling/reprofiling can take hours depending on the alloy, equipment, and amount ...

I think I'll just send it in. Thanks all. If you'd like to report back what the reason for the problem was: I'd be interested. Don't know though if Spyderco will "just" fix it or additionally let you know what they did exactly. I plan on mailing it out Saturday. I'll report back if they s...

Chaparral Ti Stealth - Problem with Action
My Chaparral Ti Stealth has recently developed an issue where the blade will not close without being pushed through the full motion. Previously, it would close on its own once it got to about 1/3 of the way from closing, as backlocks/midlocks do. I tried cleaning it out with dish soap and warm water...

Re: 50 cents difference Raven 2 or Tenacious
I picked up a Cara Cara 2 in black FRN a few weeks ago. Overall very nice for $20. The action is good, the blade is thinner than my Endura 4. 8Cr is easy to sharpen and works just fine. It's a good value for a user.
