Your hairs are communicating, learning, getting stronger.

Have you looked at the edge or scratch pattern under magnification? Will it shave after the fine diamond but before the next step?

It's a little known fact that a Spyderco Worker was one of the items carried by Voyager 2 which is now over 9 billion miles from our sun. NASA wanted an item that would bridge the gap between our most advanced technology, and a modern representation of our most primitive technology. Voyager 2 also ...

It's a great little knife. But Gerber borrowed the design from the CRKT Peck, and then made it a bit bigger. Was going to say, looks a lot like my CRKT KISS. Picked it up on the cheap because I liked the unique design. As I used it a little the pocket clip was a tad large for my tastes (guess it do...

Do you have any trouble getting an even finish due to the small felt wheels on the Dremel? Doesn't look like it in the pics but didn't know if you noticed it at earlier stages in the process.

I like the first set posted that looks like a bluish glow. Texture and black swirl looks really good on there! I'd be interested in a pair at some point if he can get the contouring worked out a little better.

I've got an M4 Manix 2 that's supposed to be delivered from Bento tomorrow. Since that's the only place with that run I had no choice. Hopefully there won't be any issues.

By the way, who is Jeff and what is CS? Sounds like a nice place!

Thanks guys! I should've mentioned it in the first post and I'll update. This is hollow-ground 154CM on the Manix2. I sharpened it on the 17° setting on the Lansky sharpener and when measuring with my calipers, I calculated it was something like a 28° inclusive angle. Monday I should be able to chec...

My lock action is firm but smooth as peanut butter. I can pull the lock back and swing the blade back and forth like its floating.

Course, I've been EDCing mine for about a year now, yours might get broken in.

Absolutely _amazing_ photos! :) Many thanks for showing them to us. I very much like how you are able to combine multiple images (multi-layered) into a single image to avoid the problem with depth-of-focus. Those very high magnification images are beautiful. Do you do requests? (1) Can we suggest y...

Zen, looks good. Here's a link I was looking at yesterday for the Anso pattern. I might try this with some micarta if I make some slabs.

Hopefully you can figure an angle that works for you. If you're using it that hard I'd suggest just using a utility knife; Craftsman had a pretty solid one a few years ago and I've torn through way too many blades to count. I love the fact I can abuse the **** out of a razor then flip it around or t...

Pictures from today, still freshly sharpened. The metallograph has a color camera and 50-1000x capability. Although the lenses are labeled with those magnifications, I think they're slightly different (comparing 63x on the stereo microscope and the 50x on the metallograph, they don't match up) Also,...

Good news: Found out how to take a multi-layer grab from the microscope, so now DOF isn't an issue (razor sharp!) Bad news: Wasn't able to find the exact location of the previous 50x and 100x pictures, so the ones at 200, 500, and 1000x are going to be at different points on the blade. All this mean...

You guys are in for a treat! Got the Manix on the metallograph just a few mintues ago and was able to get pictures from 50-1000x. It's gonna take me a little while to (figure out how to) process the 500x and 1000x ones as the depth of field is crazy thin. I took several pictures and believe the soft...

I've never had the opportunity to own one from Taiwan but like you, I get all fuzzy and warm inside when it says Golden, CO on it. However, I wouldn't hesitate if I saw one I wanted to buy and it was made in Taiwan because the guys in Golden are still standing behind you on it.

That is nice to see...I like to see magged knife edges... Have you access to a laser scanning confocal microscope? THEN, it becomes mind boggling... Had to look that up. Impressive! The metallograph next to the stereoscope has the capability to show a little depth. I'll try to get pictures on that ...
