Re: Military 2 Discussion (Merged)

Random unsolicited input here, but after receiving the Military 2 (nice knife, great fit and finish, of course), I feel that it should be labeled the PM2-XL. It carries over nothing from the original Military other than the same blade shape and size. So the iconic features of handle shape/ ergonomic...

Re: Spyderco Siren Observations

And apparently most important... the lock bar to blade tang engagement face has been widened (front to back) by a few thousandths, at least comparing the "T" vs "V" date code samples I have. Also noting that on the "V", the lock bar pivot pin doesn't sit proud of the G1...

Re: Spyderco Siren Observations

Anyone have an old Siren and CQI Siren they could photograph side by side? I swear it feels like there were more changes than just the lock, but I'm going by memory. Many months later, but did you ever get a response on this? All I'm seeing relative to original vs CQI side by side is that the CQI b...

Re: Native 5 G10 S110v liners vs linerless

Maybe I had a run of too many perfect ones out of the box... And I am being fairly nit-picky. Thanks for the sanity check and input.

Re: Native 5 G10 S110v liners vs linerless

Agreed (regarding just relieving the edges a bit myself). Was just interested to find out whether this was a common experience. Hence reaching out here. First order of business was getting the action lubricated and cycled sufficient to get reasonable open and close effort and smoothness, which wasn'...

Re: Native 5 G10 S110v liners vs linerless

OK will try to capture and post. I think it's all about the skeletonized liners being stamped(?) thereby leaving relatively sharp edges on the inside edge of the very thin remainder of the liners that follows the G10. Liner skeleton is only about 1/8" wide where it follows the G10 edge. So when...

Never mind.. Went to work lubing pivot and lock, smoothed out some edges, all is good. A very nice addition to the collection.....

Re: Native 5 G10 S110v liners vs linerless

Thanks for the reply regarding G10 thickness in linerless version. Is it fair to say that the fit and finish I'm seeing on the linered version is typical (i.e., consistent with the knife specs?) Thanks.

Re: Native 5 G10 S110v liners vs linerless

Just received the C41GPDBL5 (linered version) and I'm somewhat shocked. This is the only Spyderco I have that is actually uncomfortable to hold/use. The thin G10 is not radiused at all, and the liners exhibit sharp, burred edges. It almost seems like the knife came off the line before final finishin...

Re: Sharpmaker and S110v?

Somehow in scouring the multiple legacy threads on similar topics, I initially came away with the impression that it was essential to have diamond stones/rods to get anywhere. Sounds like not so much... Thanks.

Sharpmaker and S110v?

Is the sharpmaker (with default stones) essentially useless on S110v? Thanks.

Native 5 G10 S110v liners vs linerless

Are the G10 scales on the N5 G10 S110v without liners the same thickness as the original version with liners? Thanks.

Re: Why was entire post / thread deleted?

OK, my misunderstanding. Typical etiquette on boards is to not carry forth huge stacks of text with each post, so I was trying to keep it concise. Evidently editing the text in my reply resulted in changing the initial post somehow.

Why was entire post / thread deleted?

Trying to understand why an entire post/thread was deleted by admin. I posted an inquiry about a specific model and got some great responses. So I went to post a "thank you" to the thread and the post was rejected. Said I broke an unwritten rule about needing to carry through ALL text of t...

Current Shaman clip?

Just received a Shaman (S30V, stonewashed blade) fitted with a plain stainless clip. Most sources seem to indicate that it actually ships with a stonewashed clip. Does anyone know whether the Shaman is presently shipping with just a plain SS clip? Trying to verify whether what I received is as shipp...
