I've already been down that road. It's a fairly tough find and they're pricey when you do find them. Usually easier and cheaper to find a Caly 3 carbon fiber/ZDP-189. I'd actually prefer the G-10/VG10 but finally gave up on it. That's why I was ecstatic to learn about the HAP40 Sprint.

My interpretation is that the Sprint is a trial run to see if the production issues are remedied, then, if so, regular production may resume...

Not sure where your info about these making a comeback comes from. These first two were disco'd due to poor sales, not any issue in the factory (these well predate the death of the father & grandfather).

It's kind of up on the air at this time. We've been having some problems with the maker and some quality issues. We're still working with them trying to get it sorted.

I certainly fully understand what Sal is saying in that thread, and have discussed it with him in person in fact. The current issues with production at that factory, whether still being solved or already fully solved, have absolutely zero to do with Spyderco resurrecting a version of this model they've already deemed to be a poor enough seller to discontinue.

That's the deal with the VG-10 Caly 3. Maybe Sal will blow our minds saying it's back on, since that happens pretty much never happens...
