A new and different Kiwi project...
I got a urge last weekend for a new mug. I had used Cafe Press about a year ago, for a different mug, and have been very pleased with the quality of it, so figured I'd use them again. I wanted something unique, Spyderco related, and personal. So, I took a photo of 12 of my Kiwis, uploaded it to the computer, cropped it, and cleaned up some dust.

Next, in Xara-X, I fitted the photo to the Cafe Press template I still had from last year's project. I found the photo was a bit too short, so I decided to cut it in half at the center, add a bit of filler, and place the year on that center filler. I could have added anything I wanted, or just skipped the filler and left whitespace between the two halves of the photo. Finally saved the finished "artwork" as a .PNG file.

After that, went back to the Cafe Press website, and "created" my mug by uploaded the .PNG file and "adding" it to the blank mug. Then into my shopping cart it went. Final stop was the checkout, to pay for it. Even with their "el-cheapo" shipping option, took exactly one week from order to delivery. Not too shabby.
The mug looks great. The photos below do not do it justice, but the were the best I could get and I wanted to let everyone see the finished product. The surface is very shiny, so trying to get enough light to take the shots, without getting some reflections proved impossble for me. I know there is stuff I could spray on to kill the shine, but did not feel like running all over creation trying to find it. So, you'll have to take my word on it, but the picture is just as sharp and clear as the photo.

Now to brew some tea and give it a test run. :D

I agree with Rock.
That mug is perfect for you. Great idea.

First they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not stand up, because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Dy-no-mite! What a cool idea. I've seen people at the office use their mugs to hold their pens and pencils. I wonder what else you could keep in there?

Thanks folks, appreciate the kind words. The tea tasted great out of it. :D And at the risk of appearing even more the Kiwi addict, I must admit that "a few" others got left out of that "mug" shot. :o
They also do clocks  , twelve Kiwis in a circle might be next! :D
