I was talking with my Wife this weekend about the Forum and this Give Away thread. Her comment really hit home with me. She said that because the Internet is such a crazy, chaotic world, a place that still values civility and "shiny footprints" is very special. I agree. This Forum is such a cool place to hang out that I decided to expand the GAW a little - so two members will receive sets of custom Mule scales. :)

AND THE WINNERS ARE:

1.) Jabba359

2.) Defenestrate

Guys - PM me with your first and second selections and mailing address. I'll get the scales out this week before I head down to Atlanta for the Blade Show.

Great spirit Ted I'm new to forums really .
I joined the first one here In the uk just shy over a year ago.
I don't like social networking as a rule the majority of it is intrusive to privacy.
Far too many insecure people being key board warriors .
The knife community though has been a revelation to me though .
The kindness shown by strangers really , and for the most part very civilised.
Congrats to the winners enjoy .
Ted is Claro walnut the same as English walnut ?.
I have some awaiting a woodcraft mule and they look very similar .
Although slightly a lighter shade very nice chatoyant effect in the grain .

Got my scales yesterday (Micarta) and they are fantastic! The finish is impeccable and they did nicely in covering up the extremely ugly blemishes my XHP Mule has. Thanks again Ted, I'm extremely happy with them. :D

Thanks! I use almost exclusively hand tools when working my scales (the only exception is the drill press). I use a coping saw to rough cut the blank, rasps and carving files to shape/contour the scales, and hand sandpaper to finish them (usually to 1000-1500 grit).
