Maybe I am looking at it differently, but the Domino doesn't dazzle me like it seems
it does others. Don't get me wrong, it looks fine and hey I might get one, who knows.
I would have to grind that flipper off though and the clip looks like an add-on and to
me doesn't match exactly right. The price point will be up there as well..

I think it is slightly more general than that. I believe the purpose is to show off different handle materials and different handle types.Jay_Ev wrote:Everything looks great so far. Possibly there should have been another material between the two titanium versions.

I am not interested in flippers. I see the hole as the Spyderco plus. However, a laminate in superblue does make sense to me. I still use some old Gerber knives in M2 with a hard chrome plating. They give excellent edge holding, easy sharpening, and no rust with proper care. You should be able to get good performance in edge holding with laminates.
How does Superblue do for edge holding?
How does Superblue do for edge holding?
That hasn't been my experience but this is completely anecdotal. I sharpened my Super Blue to a much finer angle (due to use) than my S90V. OTOH, my Air is sharpened to a similar angle and does hold that great edge longer than my Super Blue. I'm talking that screaming sharp initial edge. Not just a useful working edge. It may even be that since SB is more susceptible to corrosion than M4 it's simple micro corroding the edge of the edge?Donut wrote:Ken, not as long lasting as M4 is an interesting comment. I remember seeing someone say, but I don't remember where or who, that it holds an edge comparable to S90V.

I like to see spyderco getting more and more into tactical knives, but that tanto is going to be very uncomfortable and coming from Japan, the edges on those liners will be super sharp, just like on the lum tanto and even the new szabo (Taiwan), I would say if you are making it in Japan, put a backspacer on it, just my opinion. Cheers

I haven't held it obviously but Wouter said it's pretty comfortable. While that is subjective of course the only place besides the blade channel that could use some filling is the tail part by the lanyard. The rest of the handle will have a backspacer of sorts due to the lockback design.thelock wrote:I like to see spyderco getting more and more into tactical knives, but that tanto is going to be very uncomfortable and coming from Japan, the edges on those liners will be super sharp, just like on the lum tanto and even the new szabo (Taiwan), I would say if you are making it in Japan, put a backspacer on it, just my opinion. I'm assuming it's going to be comfortable, As comfortable as most Seki lockbacks. The MSRP is the concerning part (personally) as it doesn't look extremely cheap. Still, it's appealing as a Spyderco tanto I can finally carry legally :) .

Spyderco 2013 Production Sample – Dragonfly Pink
By popular demand, Spyderco decided to make the Dragonfly in a new color. This is a pink Dragonfly that will come out. The proceeds of this knife will benefit a cancer charity; the Guardians of the Ribbon/Pink Heals Tour judging from the catalog. Another knife I will hoard for the women in my life. Really, it’s for the girls. Not me
The specs we measured for the pink Dragonfly are:
Blade Length: 5,8 cm / 2.28 inch
Overall Length: 14,2 cm / 5.59 inch

Spyderco 2013 Prototype – Dyad Sprint
Good news for the Dyad fans, there’s going to be a new Dyad Sprint Run. This sprint features a gray G10 handle for the large Dyad. The knife has double backlocks for the plain and serrated blades. The knife seemed large to me (I’ve only handled the mini-dyad before) and it had a decent amount of heft to it. As a lefty, I can’t really access the blades left-handed – so I will pass. The fit and finish looked great on this prototype. The spacers were finished quite nicely.
The specs we measured for the Dyad Sprint are:
Plain Edge Blade Length: 8,5 cm / 3.34 inch
Overall Length with PE Blade: 20 cm / 7.87 inch
Serrated Edge Blade Length: 9,6 cm / 3.77 inch
Overall Length with SE Blade: 21 cm / 8.26 inch

Spyderco 2013 Production Sample – Ed Schempp Equilibrium
For a complete story on the origin on the Equilibrium (and the Balance), check out Ed Schempp’s explanation on YouTube. The knife was easy to open and close. I liked it a lot. This one went straight on my wishlist.
The specs we measured for the Equilibrium are:
Blade Length: 4,8 cm / 1,88 inch
Overall Length: 12 cm / 4.72 inch

To me, this knife handled and locked up like the proverbial small tank for sure.JT wrote:No worries, we'll find out eventually.
Would you, and the others handling it describe it belonging to "built like a small tank" category? Looks like it.. :) Hopefully it's an MBC-category knife. Just from the pics alone one can see that the SD qualities are right there. Maybe add some nice wooden scales, mmm... knife p*rn at its best :D
Maybe so, but I would definitely add a backspacer. The liners are very sharp on my spyderco overseas produced knives, every time I try to get my hand in my pocket to get some change or something I have to be careful not to cut myself on the edges of the liners, so my suggestion would be either closed construction or more work on the liners.Blerv wrote:I haven't held it obviously but Wouter said it's pretty comfortable.
