#1

Post by MyKnife »

hi Guys,

Can you tell me something about these differences? The same year of production, but different pins and other pits ... .
Thanks!

Yeah, small changes throughout production are not uncommon.

Not sure but I would keep those until you die. Those are freakin' awesome.

I'm curious too because I am the one that sold that to you. When I first saw this post I got worried for a sec that something was wrong with it. Anyways I just did a google search of "spyderco yojimbo". One picture I found was here on the forums:

If you scroll down there is a blue one next to a black one and they both have 2 totally different screws. My guess is a "constant quality improvement" thing.

I know a bloke who has one where the jimping is not only on the thumb ramp, but heads off down the blade for an equal distance.
I intend to prise it from his cold dead hand. :D There ya go Bill :p .

Interesting discovery! Michael Janich will probably offer some insight into this.

pure CQI indeed.

IIRC and in my experience the first type of screw was (head) stripping very easily (same as the Para1) and wasn't flushed in the handle so had to be profiled differently to not catch anything on the way in or out of the pocket.
the recess in the handle is used to pinch the knife between the thumb and the index finger (the clip has the other hole), maybe it needed a little more depth.
