I probably should not be using Firefox with so many add-ons, extensions. I probably will change browsers eventually. But there are sites that do not open up for me and I have other browsers on this system just in case. I've been using Firefox ever since I downloaded it in 93/94 and compiled it on my systems.toomanyquestions wrote: ↑Sat Feb 10, 2024 9:40 pmI looked twice and refreshed once before I realized..... :)Naperville wrote: ↑Sat Jul 22, 2023 6:56 pmYou had me. I think I started using 'alternative browsers' by 2008, it might have been 2005/06. What sort of system is that?

In 93/94 the systems I used at school were all UNIX, primarily SGI Unix systems for surfing the Internet and I compiled the raw Mozilla source code so that everyone at the university could use a web browser for the first time.toomanyquestions wrote: ↑Sat Feb 17, 2024 1:16 pmWow - 93/94!Naperville wrote: ↑Sat Feb 10, 2024 11:47 pmI probably should not be using Firefox with so many add-ons, extensions. Definitely wasn't firefox back then. I remember when they launched it as phoenix, then renamed to firebird in the 2000's.

Re: Native Chief Lightweight!!!
The browser started out being called NCSA Mozilla or Mosaic (I think Mosaic is still around as a proprietary browser) and went through a number of name changes after that before they settled on Firefox. They also has email agents, I think one was Thunderbird.
The code that I download and compiled was Mosaic or Mozilla.
We are going way back. I'm lucky I've remembered my name this long.

Wiki:
NC-LW: now that is an interesting question. That sort of use would tell us more about potential flex, durability, etc.

Although I don't always like combo edges, IMO, that edge configuration would work perfectly for the Chief.

Anyone get a combo edge yet? Wondering what your thoughts on it are.

I’m getting the idea a lot of people, like me, are waiting for the SPY27…. Could this be a wake up call for Eric to order more SPY27?

I am also waiting for the spy27. Nothing wrong with bd1n, but there are several upcoming models I want and don't want to blow the whole knife budget on chiefs. Although it is tempting...

I wish. Still waiting for the MC-NC I ordered last black Friday to appear...

Re: Native Chief Lightweight!!!
Same here. If there was a pre-order for SE Spy27 I'd already have my order in. I'm tempted to order the SE Salt MC but I've been wanting to try Spy27 for a while now and I don't have a Chief yet. I'm not really interested in BD1N, for whatever reason.
For my uses, 4" blades are mostly outdoors knives, for edc I prefer roughly 2.5" to 3" blades. I've really been looking for a 4" SE in a steel that's relatively high in stain resistance. I already have the PE MC Native 5 Salt (plus the Rex45 N5), they're great knives but I want to scratch that Chief itch.
edit: I did pre-order the SE Mil 2 and I'm expecting a Maxamet Sage 5 LW to be delivered in the next few days (my first Sage and first Maxamet blade), plus I've ordered 3 khukuris from Nepal that should trickle in over the next few months.
