aren't they're quarterly? i doubt it would be october, but spyderco can obviously do whatever they want.
They’re not done quarterly. They’ve done three a year except for 2021 when they only released two.
The first Reveal of the year usually shows up in early January, the second is usually in May, and the third has been in September. With only one more business day left in September, I wouldn’t be surprised if it ends up being released some time in early October.

If it's in A2, I'd be willing to put a modest amount of money on this being the updated wolfspyder. From this angle it looks right, or at least plausible, and the blade could be scandi from what I can see.
I think that is the choiless Shaman. It was in the prototype case this year at Blade Show. Production model per Eric, so I put my money on that. The more I look at it, I think something is just holding it not riding it. Like wrapping around from the bottom and suspending it in the air.

definitely looks like a shaman profile without a choil. looks like it could have a swedge too, which might actually get me to look at the shaman again.
i can't wait to see this reveal. whatever is in it, there's always something exciting.

Did they have a working name for it at Blade Show? Was this the Bodacious? Do you remember what the scales were made of?
If the “Bodacious” is the Choil-less Shaman, I’m confident thats what the teaser is showing.
(I might just be making a mountain out of a mole hill but “Bodacious” is also the name of a rodeo bull that was known as “The worlds most dangerous bull” and “The greatest bull to ever buck.” Again, probably overthinking it, but that could be the reason for the bucking teaser photo.)

I think it was the Bodacious, but I can't recall what the performance model was called. The choiless ended up getting a thinner blade stock than the Shaman. Black G10 and S30V. It has significantly contoured edges but not as significant as the Shaman. Larger flat area. Personally, I think that is perfect because I believe the compression lock needs a certain amount of flat to pinch to close. Contouring doesn't seem to play well with the CL if there is not flat area to squeeze.

While not the reveal, there was another hint. This time about an upcoming tool steel. From the SpyderByte:
As for the other 16 high-performance steels on Dr. Thomas’ chart, Spyderco has produced or is currently producing knives featuring 13 of them. Soon, that number will be increased to 14.
Could be Z-max. Essentially Rex-86. We all know that BBB was playing with the HT of Z-max at some point so I won't be surprised. We had the mule and as far as I'm aware, there's a lot of folks having the mule and others having custom knives in Z-max, and they are very happy with it. But in the end it's just a speculation.
