I stared out as a Manix guy, but eventually ended up with team PM2. For me, the Manix2 is a knife that feels great to hold, but not as good when using it as the PM2.
Could you say more about that? Is it a particular grip (or grips) that work better with the PM2?

if they made a m2lw backlock in the same dimensions as a current m2lw
Wouldn't that be called the Stretch? Native Chief?

Bring back the back lock M2! Make it a light weight!
m2lw would make a great salt knife.

I have a few of both, and I enjoy both. The Manix feels best to me in hand; the PM2 carries better for me. I like the CBBL better than the comp lock, but I like a pointy blade better than a leaf. I really wish there were a Manix with a traditional clip-point blade. I'd like a trailing point even better, but I doubt most people would.

Manix 2 more popular than the PM2? Not a chance! The reason you are seeing "more interest" in Manix 2 releases is because they happen with so much less frequency than PM2s. People get a lot more excited about something that happens once a year vs 10 times a year.

As someone else said above I also think the Manix 2 being the first 15V release also sparked a lot of interest that wouldn't have been there otherwise. I'm guilty of buying a 15V Manix 2 as my first Manix 2 just because of the 15V. It's a fine knife, but I much prefer my 15V PM2.

They should make it in Magnacut so it can be anything a person needs it to be. Blue would be nice.

I really don´t think so.

Stretch: Completely different blade and especially edge profile plus (in the currrent Stretch 2) a handle shape that is less "in-locking", but also offers more space for larger hands. Also more pronounced thumb ramp.

Native Chief: A lot bigger - and slimmer.

Just my 2c
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):

-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

I can´t talk about the G10 Manix, but when it comes to Manix LW vs PM2:
Manix wins for me.

Mainly for the lock (I prefer the CBBL over the comp.lock by a lot), but also for the ergos (closed back...) and thinner, a bit taller (I think so?) blade which should make for a slicier geometry while still offering an a bit more robust tip. Lighter weight (in the LW!) is very nice too

Real plus on the PM2 though: Longer cutting edge.

The Pm2 does not fit my big hands. Weirdly, the M2 does, but just barely. I have one PM2 that I bought for the color and the steel, and I have 5 M2s of various kinds.
This is always hard to picture for me... I know that you have really big hands, and with mine already (L to XL, and not really "beefy") the fit on the Manix behind the choil is very nice, but really tight. Just a tad shorter there and the grip area would be TOO short...
Both Stretch 1 (so not the current 2) and PM2 offer a hair more space for me behind the choil (though the fit on those is pretty tight already too)

i've said it before, but the pm2 has a little less swell under the ring and pinky fingers than the manix, which makes it just slightly less hand-filling and comfortable to me. if i hadn't held them one right after the other, i might not have noticed it though. in other words, the pm2 ergos are not bad, i just prefer the ergos of the manix. the same could be said about every aspect of the design for me. there's nothing wrong with the pm2, but the manix is just better for me all-around.

That is not true...
He would prefer the original lockback c95 Manix! I love the Manix XL but its a weakling compared to the real Manix.

Sal and Eric should make the C95 with its original thicker blade stock in 15v with its original full liners and the illusive Powerlock now that is the only Manix 3 that would ever be worthy of being made!

No, no that would be a Manix 2 LW, but with thinner bladestock and perhaps a very high hollow grind, in full SE and an a bit longer blade that fills all of the handle when the knife is closed... :zany ;)

Got a Manix 2 before my first PM2. Have to say I prefer the PM2 slightly over the Manix. Mainly because of the preferred ergo's and the compression lock. The difference in blade geometry doesn't make a lot of difference in my daily use.

Thank god i am still young you clearly want to give me heart attack with such nonsense dont you?? :zany by the way that high hollowground idea you should take that for the Chinook 6 since they already messed up the 5... :zany

I would buy one of those having just googled it. Extra points if they can get Chuck Norris to be in the marketing photography.

Yes, it is a snug fit, but I get used to that. The PM2 is just too snug for my comfort, somehow. Maybe I should lose weight. :winking-tongue
