Just got a NIB Titanium ATR

#1

Post by American1776 »

Just found a NIB Titanium ATR. I love the ATR, have the stainless and two G10 models. Finally got the original in Titanium.

It’s a wonderful knife. The only problem is that the compression lock allows for blade wiggle when the blade is closed. The detent keeps the blade shut; just some wiggle in the closed position. I think I can live with that. Anyone else have a TI ATR with lock wiggle when closed? Is this a problem?

Here are some pics, with my SEBENZA too.

Great looking knife. I then to like bigger belly knives vs something line a pointy Native Chief.

I only had the Ti for a short time and a Forum member who joined last year has it in his collection. My example did not have this issue . I would not worry about it , nice addition to your collection . MG2

Congrats. A rare find.

I originally designed that model 20+ years ago with hopes of using it as a Glock piece, but I could never get to Glock so we decided to produce it just for us.

I have the all stainless steel ATR from 2005 and it doesn’t have any blade play open or closed. Personally, I fail to see why any blade play while closed would be an issue.

Hi Sal thx for the extra info on the history of one of my favorite models you designed.
But can you or anyone else explain what you mean by using it as a glock piece? English is not my native language and i never heard that sentence before.
Now i know glock is firearms company so do you mean it was made to be a collaboration with them or am i way off? :flushed :grin-sweat

Hi Apollo,

My intent, at the time, was to present the design to Glock firearms and see if we could make it as an official Glock knife. We worked with a number of Glock reps but were never able to get any closer to actually dealing with Glock. Not all projects come to fruition. I'm a shooter and use Glocks, among others.
