Bold Jumping Spider
clinging to a vertical wall of sheetrock
relaxing and sucking the juice out of
an unfortunate young grasshopper.

Jumping spiders do not weave a web
and patiently wait for something to fly into it.
They are predators that sneak up and attack prey.

resting on the side of a glass
in the dish rack in the kitchen.
Have no idea how it got there.

finishing off an unidentifiable bug.
Suspended by threads of silk
on the outside of my window.
I am on the inside.

A cow knocked my game camera out of position.
It may have been this one.



I had literally hundreds of pictures
of sweetgum leaves and grass to delete
when I saw this.



The Blue Heron
I had been trying to photograph
on a distant log
had come right up to my game camera.

And I had a bonus Cattle Egret strut around.

Difficult to pinpoint without seeing more of the body but it looks like a Black and Yellow Mud Dauber. (Sceliphron Caementarium)

Seek couldn't do better than a wasp of some sort.

Nick is probably correct . The odd thing the wings extend past the body , and images show it exposed . It was docile . We do occasionally find their nests . Dan

Last night, Ginger did not eat her dog food.
So I put the bowl in a tightly sealed container
where we keep the Milkbone dog biscuits.

This morning this greeted me.



No wonder she did not eat her dog food.

Seek could only identify this as genus Umbrella Paper Wasps
and could not identify the species.
We just call them red wasps around here and hate them.
They can be aggressive and deliver a painful sting.

House Wren

When the grandchildren come to visit
I take them to the Grapeland Safari park.
Visitors can drive through and feed the large animals.
We prefer to go inside the petting zoo
and get mauled by small critters craving attention.



The larger goats try to nibble your clothing
and untie your shoelaces.
It's a hoot.



In prior years, we could drive through in our naked jeep
or with the children in the back of a pickup.
But some kid got his head in the mouth of a camel.
He was uninjured, but that practice ended.

The reason the House Wren was perched on planter is they actually have a nest in it . peek inside .

Found this little guy while policing .22lr empties with the kids and cousins. 7 kiddos total shooting .22lr and bows! Great family vacation.
