Yup, they certainly could be just the skeletonized liners shining through. Oh well, wishful thinking  :)

This is an interesting scale material. I love my Chaparral so I am up for any reasonably priced variations.

May pick up the Noble, but the Hap40 Caly 3 and Jumpmaster 2 are must haves. Will probably pick up the Para 3 as well.

I've pulled apart one of my Chaps and there's holes in those exact locations.
That's what I assume as well. And not only are the holes in the right locations, as you noted, the screws that are hidden on the other Chaparrals are also visible through the scales. Heck, you can even see the curved channel in the liner for the internal stop pin (or whatever the heck that pin through the blade tang is).

I think you're right. I can see the channel for the back lock adjustment thing around the pivot, too.

Oh, there's a page 2 and Paul beat me to it!

Yeah, I have had my Chap apart and that is definitely the liner that you can see through scales. You can see the skeletonizing holes, the recessed holes for the internal screws as well as the circular groove for the internal stop pin. It should be cool to see the inner workings of a knife. I started a thread about clear handle scales and while some seemed interested most were not. This is probably as close as I'll see to that. I still need to see it in person to know for sure but at this price point I may finally have my second Chap. :)

I'm definitely in.

I wonder how much variation there will be between examples? Online vendors should post these all up individually, like KSF does, so we can pick patterns...

This is at the top of my list for next year. I have wanted a chap for awhile and this is interesting enough to make me pull the trigger. I love that look!

This one is nice to look at. It is probably slick, though.

I wish, strongly wish, for a Chaparral with foliage green G10 (my favorite). But, as I said previously, I am up for any reasonably priced Chaparral.

Mine came in the mail today. First Chaparral and I dig it. Nice thin blade with skeletonized liners and beautiful scales=winner winner chicken dinner. :spyder:

Could someone that has this knife be kind enough to tell me the feel of the handle. Is it rough or smooth? How is the durability of the handle in comparison to other handle materials? This really peaks my interest but would be afraid it might chip or break the handle of dropped. Thank you in advance.

The handle is smooth. It is like an acrylic almost, very durable and not subject to breakage if dropped IMO. It may scratch, but would easily buff out. I liked my 1st one so much I bought 3 more as gifts. A great gentleman's EDC. Each one is beautiful !
