I'm hooked (Manix 2, old Native)

#1

Post by zclubber1 »

Hi All,

A really good friend I fell out with gifted me a Native (I think 5 FRN) long ago. I carried that knife everyday in my back pocket, hoping I could repair that friendship. I sent pics of it every Birthday and Anniversary to show I still appreciated it and missed our friendship.

Until today. My Manix 2 came in. And, I absolutely love it! But, to take the little Native out and replace it seems like a betrayal, so I'm making my 1st post here.

I'll never ditch the gift and "life long" Native, but... God D do I love this Manix 2!!!!! S30V, full weight.

So, love out to Randal M. And, if I get his address from a mutual friend (not expecting it from here), I'm so gonna gift him one in return.

A Spyderco is more than an EDC knife. It's a totem and a touchstone. I like to go other places sometimes, but if I ever need to come back, I reach back and grip the Spyderco. Now the Manix.

Dear zclubber1:

Welcome to the Spyderco Forum.

Thank you for your post and remember, there's nothing wrong with carrying more than one knife.

Stay safe,

The G10/s30v Manix 2 is an incredible design that will give you joy for many many many years!
I do warn you as many spydie models they can be a bit contagious. :zany
Also something to note the Manix g10 design is also a perfect example of a spydie that can totally changed to your own wishes. Custom scales , lock cages ,… are easily available.
And depending on your own wishes they can even improve the design with more then just looks. :smlling-eyes

2 Manix to try, now. First, a light weight. Amazing. Second, if you can find one, a back lock Manix. Really amazing.

zclubber1,
Touching post. I hope you are able to reconnect.

Now, because I can't help myself. What if your old friend doesn't remember giving you the knife and you keep sending him a picture of a knife on his birthday every year... Sorry, I was just picturing the scenario when I read your story.

Cheers

Welcome to the Forum . Glad you like the Manix2 and the Native is also a fine knife . Maybe you can return the favor and reconnect sending him a Spyderco? MG2

Welcome!
Really nice and meaningful first post!

The Manix is an amazing design, for me the lightweight is its very best version, others like you love the heft and solid feel of the G10 variant! Both great!

And the Native to me is the coolest looking Spydie ever as I always say!

So: Nice little "collection" you have! :smlling-eyes :clinking-mugs
