Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2024 Report
The 17th Spyderco Amsterdam Meet was a blast, thank you for your patience for my report with photos of some of the upcoming Spyderco production samples.
Apart from meeting Eric, Lisa and Peter from the Spydercrew and getting a look at the new concept models, prototypes and production sample, it was great to see so many familiar faces again. It’s nice to see how this hobby binds so many of us. Thank you to all who attended, for bringing your enthusiasm and making it a great gathering. And of course, many thanks to the Spydercrew for hosting this awesome event!
The day started with a presentation by Eric, in which he presented each and every one of the new designs that are in various stages of development. I’m guesstimating he brought about 60 new models. I could identify roughly 3 stages of development: a concept model (often a custom piece from a designer), a prototype (the first stage of adapting the concept into a production model), and a production prototype (the knife now looks almost identical to the final production version). I could photograph and post a few of the upcoming production samples, many of which are likely to appear in the next Reveal catalog.
Please note, I have no information about the availability or pricing of these knives and products. For some of the models that haven’t been revealed yet, I took rudimentary measurements, none of which should be considered ‘catalog-correct’. Any mistakes or deviations etc… are mine. Basically, when it comes to these photographs, videos and measurements; I’m a fan – not an expert.
I’ll post the first batch of content momentarily, and I’ll add more to this thread in the coming days.

Military 2 CPM-15V – Spyderco Design Production Sample 2024
Last year, Spyderco introduced many of us to CPM-15V for the first time. Spyderco launched limited runs of the Paramilitary 2 and Shaman in 2023, working with Shawn Houston -a.k.a. Big Brown Bear- who shared his heat treat protocol to bring out the best of this steel. Apparently, this first foray into 15V went well, because Spyderco plans to produce many different models from their US factory in this steel that I believe are planned as regular production. Up first in this report, is the Military 2 in CPM-15V.

This was my last post for today, more to come tomorrow....
Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2024 Report
Thanks for sharing, Wouter! The reports and photos from the Amsterdam meet are always much appreciated.
A regular production 15V Microjimbo sounds badass! Sign me up for one.
Now I’m just hoping a Lil Native gets the 15v treatment as well!

I look forward to these posts every year and really appreciate your doing them.
You actually meant Shawn Houston where you typed Sean Michaels.

I believe this knife will wrap up my Spyderco purchases indefinitely, aside future Mule Teams. To hear that this may be regular production is astounding. Thank you sal, Gail, Eric, Shawn, and all at Spyderco; and of course, Thank You for the report, Wouter.

Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2024 Report
Thank you so much for these photos and summaries! I'm super excited to see these regular production 15V models coming down the pipeline out of Golden.
I've yet to use 15V, but two of my favorite steels are K390 and Maxamet so it would be really interesting to try a steel that bridges the gap between them in terms of toughness/hardness balance somewhat. And the usage reports have been really impressive of course.

Thanks for sharing mr. Blonde. Cool stuff
Im finding myself really wanting that microjimbo in 15v, and i've honestly never had much intetest in 15v before. ( have always respected how awesome of a steel it is, but just "wasn't" for me)

Re: Manix 2 Lightweight CPM-15V – Spyderco Design Production Sample 2024
Had to quote this bit; as it is interesting to finally know. It's nice to see some of the other folks in the Spyderco crew get some recognition, "from the shadows". I wonder where the inspiration for the name came from?
Thanks again for sharing, Wouter. Looking forward to the days of upcoming sneak-peeks.

Thanks for the report! Excited to see what you post tomorrow. The 15V's are neat but I'm crossing my fingers for brand new models.
Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2024 Report
Never thought we'd see the day where BBB and Mike Janich's logos would be on the same blade - but here we are, and it is glorious.

Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2024 Report
Just a guess but those blades probably aren’t actually 15V. Since they’re still prototypes, they probably used a steel like S30V and just marked them with “15V*” to denote the steel that is intended for production.
