It's funny how some (like me) love burnt orange and some almost "hate" it.

Though I am afraid I could be in the minority here and more folks don't like the color than do...
I have no problem with the color , like it on my HAP40 Delica Wharnie. It would be an easy fix if the color did not appeal to me . MG2

Perhaps the color and that is not liked by everyone could even be a pro for those who want a "REX" sprint but not necessarily join the "frantic" sprint run game...

At least in my case it was not hard to get my REX 45 Manix LW and my HAP40 Endura and Stretch 1 quite some time after they actually had dropped.
All not quick sellers, for sprints (in case of the Manix perhaps some also did shy away from the combi "tool steel " and "pinned construction").
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

I'm very interested. Are there any knives currently in REX 121? How does it compare to maxamet?
There are very few, mostly custom pieces. It has about 10% more edge retention than maxamet (which is a lot, considering how much edge retention Maxamet has), and is slightly less tough. It's the most extreme of the super hard high speed steels.

Yeah. I will likely buy one to try the steel but I find burnt orange particularly awful as well.

It really grew on me. Definitely a color that I enjoy carrying. And you know I love a Sage :)

The ‘haters’ are just more vocal… doesn’t mean there are more of them…

I've always loved the burnt orange G10, haven't had any in FRN yet. No longer have a Sage, so this one just might hit the spot.

I don't necessarily think it's awful but I don't particularly like it and I already have a half dozen other knives with it

I think this is the knife I never knew I needed. It will come down to price on this one, but think it will be pretty cool and unique.

I'm in the same boat, but as long as it's not a liner lock I can live with it.

I do like the blade shape at least. Very Manix-like.

I'm in, even though I've never held a Sage and worry it might be on the smaller side for my preferences, as the Native 5 is already a little small. Don't care. I'm smitten with my REX45 Manix2LW and the pull of REX121 novelty is too much to resist.

Waiting to see if a REX 121 MULE is in the upcoming reveal, or this might make its way into my purchase list. I'm also curious if this is a Sprint Run, or a standard offering. Nice to see SPY27 making its way into Taichung, as well!

I think REX121 will lend itself to a smaller knife like the Sage. As it will chip easier it would be better for lighter tasks.

Basically you would not baton with REX121 or a Sage but a Manix 2 XL and a tough steel like Cruwear would be useful for some light batoning tasks.

Good to hear that Spyderco releases Rex121 model. I am using ~3.5" rex121 knife made by BBB and loving its high yield strength, edge longevity, and ease of sharpening. King of slicing steel, IMO.

I'll never understand how new steels are introduced in folders BEFORE the Mules are released. I thought the Mules were supposed to be a trial for the steels, guage feedback and interest in those and THEN proceed to folders if they think it will be a hit. Am I wrong, honest question for anybody that knows?
