Regarding the coating, Eric did say a new coating was coming this year to be named later publicly.
The Lubricity coating is what I’m calling it.

Kinda sounds like NP3

Apparently NP3 has been replaced by NT7, at least with these guys:

Great CQI. It’s actually worth it at $449.95. The KnifeJoy Slysz Bowie exclusive was first released in April 2021 for $399.99.

Logically I really don't need this but the collector in me says I must have it. At least I'll have a couple weeks to think about it. I figured the Subvert sprint would be my most expensive Spydie but it may end up being #2. If I even manage to get one of course.

I'm going to stick with DLC until proven otherwise. ;)

Shortly after my post here, I emailed BladeHQ inquiring whether the blade coating is DLC but probably won’t hear back until Monday. I’m fairly certain it’s DLC since it’s U.S. made. We shall see.

BladeHQ responded: “I am so sorry, but the manufacturer didn't provide us with that information, and I searched but couldn't find that info anywhere.”
That seems a little strange, no? I don't have any of the paperwork handy from my Spyderco boxes, but I thought the coating or knife finish was always part of that little write-up. I could be wrong.
Maybe its their new coating that they been working on

It's a cool lookin' knife. Being neither a frame-lock nor a belly-blade fan, it's not for me. But on looks alone, it's a winner.

After reading this, I tried to remember what I paid for the OG Slysz Bowie. I can't remember, and cannot find that info in my email at this moment. If I had to guess, I'd say around $375, and that was probably circa 2015.

The OG Slysz Bowie C186Ti - Stonewash Ti- PE - CTS-XHP was in production from Sept. 2014 - 2017, and the Spyderco MSRP was $499.95 (in 2014). :bug-red-white

I love that knife, and am now going to carry it tomorrow. Thanks for the reminder! :smlling-eyes

The overtravelstop / steel insert lockface does make me wonder if the CQI was only for this exclusive, or for something more :)
:respect In the collection :respect : Lots of different steels, in lots of different (and same) Spydercos.

I purchased my original Slysz Bowie Folder (C186TIP) with CTS-XHP Blade and Titanium Handle in September 2014 for $279.95 from Cutlery Shoppe. So, I paid 44% off MSRP of $499.95.

Slysz Bowie was part of the Official 2018 Discontinued List which was announced on October 12, 2017. In 2017 the MAP price was $299.97.

Using the CPI Inflation Calculator a price of $300 in December 2017 becomes $375 in January 2024. However, add the exclusivity, upgrade from XHP to M390, Blue Annodized Titanium and the Lockbar Insert / Overtravel Stop you end up with a reasonable $450 in February 2024.

Interesting that the black blade C101PJGRBK2 appears to be screwed construction whereas IIRC the satin blade C101PJGR2 was pinned.
