This is probably one of those models that in 10-15-20 years, someone is going to post in a throwback thread and we all wish we had one.

unbelievable. after knowing it's an issue on the cruwear model, for them not to have it fixed before this beautiful version was produced is a real problem. this knife is too fancy and expensive for it to have issues like that. the cruwear version is even too expensive to have that kind of issue. i hope it's at least not as common with this run.

Seems like the design still has a lanyard issue that is hit and miss . Certainly had hoped this would have been resolved as been said especially at the price . The knife is a beauty , but prefer the Gray for use and carry . MG2

I agree, it is puzzling to me too that this issue is still present, especially, on a sprint run like this one. I would've expected this to have been sorted out by now. Maybe it’s less of an issue than we perceive it to be and Spyderco hasn’t seen it as often as we may think they have. :thinking

Mine has the lanyard tube issue as well. I'll live with it. It definitely does detract a little from a very nice knife. This was a known issue and shouldn't have happened.

If the tolerances can't handle a lanyard tube. Get rid of the lanyard tube. Or get rid of the lanyard hole all together. This knife would have looked better without it anyways.

A design/production defect on a $300 knife that dings the blade when you close it is a dropped ball. I was fine pulling the lanyard tube on the Cruwear model. I don't want to on this one, so I'll live with the dull spot until repeat sharpenings solve the issue. But this is the last stretch XL I'm buying until the issue is addressed.

Oh, now I understand what the fuss is all about. OK, that is not great to get blade hitting the lanyard tube.

From the practical point of view - could't one use a dremel with a cutting disc and make a grove in the lanyard tube - thus solving the issue without removing the tube? I am aware that from a collecting standpoint (what frankly is why this knife version was made in the first place) it is not an attractive solution, but for the user it could be a help.

By the way, is the lanyard tube an issue on the LW as well?

The LW doesn't have the tube.

Probably easier to take it out. I took my Cruwear tube out. It was barely touching, but at the time it irritated me. :winking-tongue
