M4 Yojumbo

Live in 92 minutes.

Not 100% decided since I have a lot of models I carry more than my Yojumbo, but leaning towards buy. Love M4, love the blacked out hardware + the jade scales (especially once dyed dark green like my chief!), and I want to support sprint runs of full sized models.

Anyone else jumping on this release?

There is more than 2 in stock. It is a max you are able to order. Blade HQ’s website does not seem to allow you to check remaining inventory.

I had a niggling feeling that was holding me back from ordering it. then I remembered why.

Was debating between getting this and a replacement Rex45 Native Chief since I gave mine away. That made the decision a lot easier.

That was BladeOps that did that to you right? Not BladeHQ. You are good to go!! Order away!

Great idea @Fireman. Think I will do the same got an extra CF/S90V last holiday sales and picked up two of these to try the same project you have in mind. Should look amazing right?

****. I wish our border "services" weren't such asses. I'd order for sure. Can't risk it. I wish a Canadian company would do an exclusive. We miss out on a ton of them up here

Me too, especially because I love my new S30V/digi camo-scaled Military 2, and the Military is one of the few BHQ M4/jade G10 exclusives I didn't buy. For the life of me I can't remember why I didn't...might have been a little before I fully understood that Spyderco + exclusive + M4 = awesome thing I should buy regardless of price, and with no time wasted considering whether or not I actually "need" it.

Well, gotta be honest. Went from being pretty thrilled with it to pretty let down within 30 seconds.

First I opened it up and it looked and felt great. Incredibly smooth with perfect lock-up.

Then I flipped it around and saw they didn't coat the liners.

Image

Why?

I guess it's on me for not checking the photos closely, but this is unheard of to my knowledge. I have never seen a DLC Yojumbo with uncoated liners, nor have I seen a BHQ DLC M4 run of any knife with uncoated liners.

I'm gonna sleep on it but I'm more than likely going to let it go, and stick with the stock DLC S30V version that does have coated liners. That's one of the main reasons I even buy DLC knives, so all the hardware is coated to keep rust at bay.

Really confused by this decision. Yojumbos obviously have no issues being run with coated liners, as my S30V version has them.

I don't understand.

the plot thickens.....

I decided to take a look at the included insert.

Two things to note.

1. it says this knife should have coated liners

2. it says there's a satin finished version coming too

I'm going to email BHQ and Spyderco and find out why it says they should have coated liners but mine doesn't. Might just return it to them.

This is so weird.

Strange. I hope mine comes in soon to compare. My plan is obviously to swap the blades and hardware with the carbon fiber one but would hope to get coated liners to be all black/coated and to have one all uncoated

I know older DLC models had uncoated liners, but I thought they converted all the exclusives with DLC blades to have coated liners. That is a bummer.

yep, para 2, military etc. used to be that way, but haven't been for years. Yojumbo never had a dlc blade + uncoated liner option before so I didn't even think to double check.
