I'm getting the same vibe as the " I hate rumors" thread.

that's fair, but this time it's not really a mystery. missed timelines since the inception of the reveal program, sneak peaks years early with very little follow-up if any, and now reveals for reveals. i don't get it. it's kind of ridiculous. not enough to make me walk away; just enough to be extremely irritating.

and before people throw in their two cents about how we should be happy with the transparency, i'll just say ignorance is bliss. if i didn't know a manix salt was coming, i'd still be asking for it occasionally, but i wouldn't be anxiously awaiting it. if the last reveal wasn't out, i wouldn't be anxiously awaiting several knives from it. if spyderco didn't announce a reveal was coming soon, i wouldn't have been anxiously awaiting it for the last week and a half.

maybe that's my problem, but i know it's irritating to other as well, even if they wont admit it. and would suggest maybe giving a date to go with the coming soon, but as we can see with the reveals, these dates would be very very loose anyway.


to an extent, i get it. build up hype and keep people interested, but you have to deliver (which i know they will, eventually). i feel like i'm at my favorite band's concert and the lead singer is four hours late. i'm going to stick around, but i'm still going to be annoyed.


spyderco, just define your "soon" and mean it, please, or stop saying it.

Nah, it doesn’t bother me so much. I’m just getting sarcastic and ended up typing it out loud.

i'm really happy with every manix i have. i don't need a version in magnacut or any other steel for that matter. i'm still excited about it though.

the years between swick announcement, then the smaller version being released.....then what was it, half a year later the larger size is released? that was rough. still haven't snagged one.

I know with that model there was a lot going on behind the scenes. i think covid shut downs had an effect, then the sheath maker had health issues etc., but from a consumer pov it wasn't the best ride.
