SALT Shaman, Thoughts?

LC200N or Magna Cut Shaman, what are your thoughts? I would love one, that’s for sure. I also have been banging the SALT Millie drum for a bit. Anyone want to join the drum circle?

I love the model, I have two.

The handle shape is not well suited to wet conditions for my hands and uses.

For me, one of the biggest draws to the Salt series is that the knives are generally very lightweight. When I'm carrying a Salt, it's typically clipped to a bathing suit or board shorts while swimming/working in and around an ocean or lake, or carried in the pocket of the lightest-weight shorts I own on sweaty hikes in hot/humid weather. The Shaman isn't an outrageous heavy-weight at 5.2 oz, but it's more than double the weight of the Native 5 LW Salt (2.4 oz), Salt 2 (2.1 oz H1, 1.9 oz LC200N), or UKPK Salt (1.7 oz) that I normally reach for in the circumstances where I need an ultra corrosion resistant knife.. and still more than 2 oz heavier than the Pacific Salt 2 (2.9 oz) if I wanted something a little larger. That extra weight is noticeable in lightweight clothing. Not saying a Salt Shaman is a bad idea.. I'm sure it will appeal to some.. it just doesn't appeal to me all that much personally..

This is true too.. the Shaman's polished G10 would not be my preference in a wet environment.. a Salty Shaman would need some texturing to address this, imo..

Rough Canvas micarta might fix the slippery issue. Not all Salt knives are bought because of water but sweat as well. Sweat is a big one for me.

I would not mind a green lc200n Shaman in my collection.
Do not care for yellow but good thing the Shaman haves liners so kicking them off and putting some new scales isn’t that difficult.

Caribbean style Shaman scales would do the trick. The Caribbean/Shaman, Carman?

Yes and No.
Making a Salt of every model is ok. But making multiple versions of Salts for every model so that production locks up and no new models get made no that is not okay. :thinking

Not a knife I want as a salt. Not a knife I actually like :shush (don’t want to upset the house of shaman residents)

Once it comes out in Magnacut you will be happy.

For the Shaman ……. More Tool Steels !

52100, Elmax heck 1095! ……. I think of the Shaman as a foldable fixed bald knife :cheap-sunglasses

But Magnacut would be nice too 👍

To me it would be kind of klunky as a salt water knife

I agree with this, too. If this does happen I'd love to see some thick frn scales like the Native 3 or D'Allara.

Sorry to say this but eventough they are top notch. They are still strugling in that front for so many years. Sure its improved a little since some basic spydies look to be available again outside the US. But we are still very far from what it used to be in the Era of the Nirvana , Rubicon , Southards , K2 , ....

Almost all Spydies where always in stock even here in Europe besides that a few completely new models came out every season. Now a new model is as rare as seeing a ferrari next to you mid winter at a stop light in let us say Alaska...

And yes they are building there expansion yes. And sure it will make more spydies a year. But it wil not be enough if you start making 5 replicas of every model. The new plant will then be running at full speed and hit its limits in a short time and chances are rather big there still be nothing new coming out. And i get new steels and especially salts with all of rust issues you guys have are popular in the US.
But isn't 2 or 3 versions total of every model enough?
You can customize them whenever you want so a different color isn't impossible.
I see it here on the forum all the time...

I really wish they would start creating again instead of only improving anymore. Sure improving is very very VERY important.
But so is making NEW things.

I'd buy a carribean before I'd buy a salty shaman. I already have a lil Temperance 3 in vg10 if I need more robust model in a stainless for rougher work in those environments that require it. Not to mention other salt models like the waterway or Atlantic salts. For me i see fixed blades like the spy27 mule or other models cover that market sufficiently already.

Textured FRN scales, weight reduction, ti, ceramic, and coated hardware, magnacut, vanax, or lc200n blade? In.

I have always culled my knife collection as I went along. Even so, I recently sold nearly all of my knives. I dont intend to collect users going forward as I had been. I have a 15v shaman with RGT fluted titanium scales, I have a spk lamia in cruwear, I have a Caribbean. I'd trade that Caribbean in a heartbeat for a magnacut shaman with rustproof hardware, texturing, weight reduction. I love my Caribbean. Ergos & size of the shaman are better for me.

Yeah I still have my shaman steel collection. That might go too, soon. Not sure yet.
