River's Edge Cutlery Mystery Exclusive - 8/14/23

Looks like River's Edge Cutlery will be unveiling another exclusive on 8/14/23, based on their Green/yellow/brown colorway (I dislike calling it Avocado, but it's their semi-official name for their exclusive line).

No details yet, but so far this line has only had Spydercos so it's a strong possibility that this is another Spydie (I could be wrong, though).

They also had another sticker with a mascot called Lil Nate - possibly another clue to the type of knife. It could be a Native 5, which is reasonable since they don't have it in their colorway yet, or maybe another run of the Lil Native? Let the guessing game begin...

The “Lil Nate” character would make me think it’s some variant of a Lil Native but it also could be totally unrelated. A Lil Native is just about the only knife that would get my immediate attention at the moment.

(I don’t expect a PPT Perrin but anytime REC Exclusive’s are mentioned, I like to also mention how incredible an REC Exclusive version of that knife would be! )

Odd to hype a rerun of the lil native. But the sticker name would imply “lil” “nat”ive. But the native 5 is lil compared to chief and shaman. My choice’s could be

Didn't REC say before in the past that they would re-release some of their models? I feel like I've seen something about that around here before. If so, lil Native would sound about right.

I like the colorway, but don’t love these REC releases. It seems like hey go all-in on limited releases, to maximize the exclusivity. I’m not into that.

I would try for a Millie 2 though.

I carry my REC Lil Native more than any other knife, I love it. I would probably still be tempted by another run of compression lock Lil Natives…

I'm kind of sorry now that I passed on the REC Lil' Native. I've been messing around with my SNK Lil' Native and I'm liking it more and more for such a small knife. I had it apart last night and the action's dialed in much better than I had it previously. No blade play either.

REC still owes me a an exclusive PM2 from (I think) the second run that they accidentally over sold. One of the last times we were discussing REC exclusives it reminded me. I sent them an email and they said it was still in the works and I have one coming. Another time they offered me first crack at the upcoming exclusive (I think it was the Lil' Native) if I give up my place in line for the PM2. I decided to wait for the PM2

EDIT: I searched my email. The original PM2 sale was August 2020. I sent Brian a email a year ago asking about and he confirmed that the new run is still in the works and they're waiting like everyone else

Is this a $200 knife with a 2” blade? And then when you scratch the FDE coating it’s worth 30-40% less? In other words, mostly a collection item?
