Any Spyderco Enthsiasts on the Monterey Bay?

Post by Laphroaig9 »

If you live on the Monterey Bay area and would enjoy having a fellow knife collector/enthusiastic, I'd love to meet you!

Share collections, maybe learn how to sharpen better, talk about the latest Supersteel coming out that we MUST HAVE!

Say hello!

Hi there, Monterey Bay! Lived there for years, near Watsonville. Unfortunately got sucked down into the big, bad southland. Hope you find your nearby enthusiast!

Hey Michael,

I'm a bit further North, but I had a really pleasant conversation with the proprietor at Monterey Bay Knives a few years ago. He had a great example of the Lum Tanto that he was kind enough to show me + let me play with.

I'm sure you've been, but might just be worth another visit!
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

I will be in San Francisco tomorrow and driving down to Pinnacles on Sunday. I have a large group flying out there to visit some of the National Parks in California.

Unfornately, we will be moving as fast as green grass through a goose. We have several parks to see in only 12 days, so we can wave as we pass by.

Come on! For chowder, it's Old Fisherman's Grotto, or bust ;)

Laphroaig9, are you visiting or live there? I went to highschool in Monterey, but no longer live there.

Skip the pinnacles and spend time in Big Sur or more time in Yosemite. Pinnacles is not exciting and will be super hot. Lots of people get heat related illness there due to hiking in the heat and not being acclimated.

Personally I would, but I am with some family members that need to check off every national park or face the wrath of the universe.

I just bought one ! First non Spyderco knife in a very long time and I'm really pleased. Has weird marking on the cladding like a patina, but except this its just fantastic!
:respect In the collection :respect : Lots of different steels, in lots of different (and same) Spydercos.

I tried to convince them to skip it. It is however a national park. It was upgraded in 2013 and became the 59th National Park.

I went to Palma High School in Salinas - 82-86. Moved that summer back to Georgia. Lived in a subdivision across from Toro Park. My 1st real job was at the McDonalds in Monterey. My Mom worked a newspaper called Coasting out of Carmel. Carmel is also where I bought my 1st Spyderco - a Harpy.

Beautiful area, but I'm glad I moved. If I'd have stayed I'd of either ended up dead or in prison.

The peninsula and everything south is gorgeous. It’s a little slice of heaven. It’s expensive though.
