Not sure if this has been covered before so sorry if it has, but has the Gayle Bradley 2 been discontinued. I feel like I read somewhere it was but I just wanted to double check. I would love to get my hands on one but it appears you can't find them in stock anywhere. Thanks for any responses!

I would love to see a different lock, would jump in a second if it was not a liner lock. Even then I am still tempted.

To me all the elements of the design work perfectly together, including opening and closing. It's really a well-greased machine.

i'm fine with the design as is. however, i can rust cruwear and even vg10, so i'd like something more corrosion resistant so i can try this design out without having to worry about the humid florida air killing it.

I think he used M3 because that's the steel he used in competition.

Yea I thought I read something a few years ago here that Bradley knives will always stay with M4 steel out of respect.

That’s fine with me. It’s a fine steel, especially from Taiwan. They do a great job with it.

i know m4 is what he used in competition. that's great. i'm not trying to knock m4. but i don't need a competition chopper that i use hard for a minute and a half and then put away for months. i want an edc that i... you know... carry every day and use for anything and everything i need to cut daily. i was ready to give m4 a shot because i want this model, but i really don't think it's a good steel for me. it's fine if it never happens, but it would be nice. i think this knife in magnacut and micarta would be a really great alternative to those $700 crk knives for people that refuse to spend that kind of money on a pocket tool.

You should watch the video of Gayle Bradley explaining the GB 1. It wasn't designed to be a "competition chopper", and neither was the GB 2. It is an EDC that you can carry every day and use for anything and everything you need to cut daily. He mentioned that if his wife could flip it open with one hand and use it easily, then things were good. He also said that some of his friends even use the GB1 as a hunting knife.

i get that. i'm just saying that liking a specific steel for a competition chopper doesn't mean it's the best choice for a wide range of daily activities for a wide range of people. that doesn't mean it doesn't belong in a folder. it just means it would be nice to have a stainless option for the rest of us that would benefit more from corrosion resistance.

Agreed. I grew up in the '60s and '70s using carbon steel knives when I went fishing, and they seldom saw any rust; however, I think the Siren and its steel are a really great thing. Maybe I'd complain if it was made with M4, but I'd still own two.

Supporting LB here. M4 is the only steel to have pitted on me in EDC use. No red surface rust, it went from clean to pitted. So while M4 is a great steel and Spyderco does an excellent heat treat, it does not make for the best EDC steel for many people. Magnacut would be a better choice for many and I don't think GB would be overly opposed to more rust resistant version. But, who knows, he may dislike at all stainless steels?
