Lil' Native Wharncliffe
The Lil' Native Wharncliffe is a real good looking knife. I've not really been tempted to buy any of the hump backed wharncliffes Spyderco offers, but the LN is appealing, somehow.
When will it be released, I wonder?

Re: Lil' Native Wharncliffe
I’m not usually a wharncliffe fan but I’m a huge lil native fan and I think this one is gonna be a must buy for me when the funds allow. Unless I decide to save up for the cruwear stretch 2xl.
Re: Lil' Native Wharncliffe
I think this is the penultimate Lil Native for me. I love how the wharncliffe blade seamlessly blends into the overall shape of the knife, like a half-moon. And for EDC purposes nothing beats a good wharnie. Actually comparing this to the Cold Steel Tuff Lite and I'd like to think of this as a more refined version of that knife.
I really, really, REALLY hope dealers will make exclusives of this.

Re: Lil' Native Wharncliffe
It seems like it will be a great knife. I'd just prefer if it had a back lock.
Re: Lil' Native Wharncliffe
While we’re at it, how about using the LW scales and thinner blade stock? Guess we’ll have to see how this model and the LW sell first. I’m hopeful that future iterations make financial sense. Regardless, the lil Native seems to be a hit.

Re: Lil' Native Wharncliffe
When the prototype was first shown, I was not a fan of the overall aesthetics and that has not changed much but it is starting to grow on me. Still, this is my most wanted model from Reveal 11!

Re: Lil' Native Wharncliffe
I agree that it needs a proper back lock. That would make the knife perfect.
As far as aesthetics, this is the only wharncliffe design by Spyderco that I have liked the looks of. I'm not talking about function, but pure looks (well, this and the Kiwi 4).

Re: Lil' Native Wharncliffe
I have a compression lock Lil' Native that I never carry, very cool little knife but I just don't carry it? This Wharncliffe really caught my eye in the reveal, just wish it was back lock with the stouter pocket clip that comes with those.
And I would mention some kind of tool steel....but I won't do that!

Re: Lil' Native Wharncliffe
I was thinking the same thing, what a great little tank for some warehouse work...but a back lock would be a much better choice for a small knife like this. I had one for about 3 days and found the compression lock very awkward on such a small knife, and I don't even have the largest hands around either. Regardless, a good choice for a model to get the Wharnie option.benben wrote: ↑Fri Sep 30, 2022 9:12 amI have a compression lock Lil' Native that I never carry, very cool little knife but I just don't carry it? Re: Lil' Native Wharncliffe
I have been looking forward to this one. I do agree with the points that it'd probably be better as a backlock, but I'm still stoked to get my hands on one.

I prefer the compression lock versions. But that might be the para 3 in me talking.

I love my compression lock version. Not a fan of back locks on smaller knives
Re: Lil' Native Wharncliffe
I shall be glad to add this one to my respectable collection of wharnie Spydies.

Re: Lil' Native Wharncliffe
Really begs the question for a N5 Wharnie doesn't it? I actually hope they don't do it, I'm trying to reduce my expenditures on knives this next year.

Agree on you all here. A small, light blade on a backlock doesn't drop shut too well in my experience (cue Dragonfly and the extra flick required to close it). Never had any problems with the CL on the six Lil Natives I have.

I agree with you but hate drop shut so I see the lack thereof as a benefitnerdlock wrote: ↑Sat Oct 01, 2022 12:41 amUrkilnmesmalls wrote: ↑Fri Sep 30, 2022 5:24 pmI love my compression lock version. Not a fan of back locks on smaller knives

Re: Lil' Native Wharncliffe
And now we see why there are three different locks on the Lil Native. Well, I say three locks but it’s two locks and a slip joint.
